Try this:

Unplug the printer from the wall and wait for about 5 minutes before plugging back in. This may be sufficient to cause a "hard" reset of the unit (turning the unit off and back on from the front panel switch is a "soft" reset as the circuit boards still have power to them.)

If that does not work, unplug again and look closely in the printer's paper path. There may be a small shred of paper hung that is blocking a sensor unit.

Got a paper jam so bad I needed to open the machine up. I put the cover back on. Green light still comes on but nothing happens

I will take a wild guess here. You say your paper jam was very bad. Now something started this problem and maybe when you went in to clear you didn't clear everything. Something is still stuck in there . Go back in and look around with a flashlight, I think you will find another paper blockage. Good Luck Friend.

Paper jam

Hi. This could be sendor is failing or there is a jammed paper on you printer.

How to removed jammed paper

1.Unplug all cables (USB and power)
2.Turn around the printer
3.In the back there should be a small door that on my printer (SCX-4300) flips upside.
4.Look for any jammed paper.
5.Pull out the jammed paper.

Here's how to fix the sensor

Unplug everything from the back and then remove the four screws from the back panel. Pull the panel out but watch that the on/off switch doesn't hang the cover up.Once off, I removed the screw from the mount holding the right end of the sensor stick while holding the mount in place with my finger. When the screw is out, lift the mount up and carefully slide it off of the stick. Carefully rotate the spring, topside away until the left side of the spring catches the sensor piece. Now rotate the other end of the spring once more around the stick and while holding it at the top of the stick (12 o'clock) slide the mount back on. With the mount in place, release the spring and it will come to rest on the mount. Refasten the mount and check for light tension on the sensor. If it pushes forward when you release it, you're good to go. Refasten the back panel, attach all wires and enjoy.

Have a good one!

Hp6210 says "Paper Jam. Clear Jam and then Press OK". There is no paper stuck in it, nothing visible at all.

Open the rear clean out cover and check for a jam. Or the rear clean out cover could just be off like mine was. I was get out of paper message. So I found a the HP help manual that there was a rear clean out. I reached around back and found that i twas off, I popped it back on and it works just fine now.

Phantom Paper Jam

There may be a problem with the fuser unit. First check all the doors and drawers for paper jams, including removing the toner cartridge and looking inside. Leave the cartridge out, turn off your machine, unplug for 1 minute, then turn back on. Close door without the cartridge inside. Machine should tell you to insert cartridge. Put it back in, and see what it does. If a simple reset like i have described does not solve the problem, there may be a small piece of torn paper somewhere, or a sensor may be broken or dirty. Please reply with the results!

Printer says paper jam but there is none

Look Inside of each cover on the printer & see if there is a small piece of paper inside. Also, check if there is loose dust from the paper built up by the sensor switches. If none of these work, try flipping the sensor switches manually. Sometimes these get stuck in a particular bad paper jam.

I cleared the paper jam but printer still wants paper jam cleared.

Turn the printer off, unplug it, wait 10 seconds, plug it back it, and turn it back on. If it still says there's a paper jam, there is something interfering with it. Turn it off again, pull everything out that you are meant to, poke around, take anything you see that doesn't belong out, put everything back in the right place, and turn it back on. If you still have a problem, you should contact the manufacturer.
