Question about Dyson DC07 Animal Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Runs but no suction.

Help. My Animal accidentally sucked up a large piece of thin plastic sheeting (was able to pull it out). Now the motor runs but there's no suction. Hope I didn't kill it.

My son accidentally sucked up some water with my dyson animal and now it has stopped working. Is this permanent or will it come back ?

It depends how much water and how long the motor was run after sucking up water. If it was just a little water, most of the water should have been caught in the dust compartment. If there was enough water that it was able to suck it past the filter and into the motor it could cause motor failure.

My QL60 just stopped sucking. The motor and fan run fine.

If the fan is running there has to be suction. If there is none it is because the air in entering via some other port and bypassing the normal intake. Check it out. Check hoses and fittings.

Model 16n5 has no suction

check the passages for obstructions. (coat hanger works nicely). if the motor is running, you should have suction. if you don't, something is blocking air flow.

I sucked up a piece of plastic. Removed plastic.

This style machine picks up the dirt/debris with the roller, sends it through a fan and into the bag/cup. This is a very common problem since a plastic fan turning at 2000 rpm meeting anything hard is going to cause damage. (Loose Change, toys, anything small) This fan creates your suction and when it is damaged it creates none, it also is the "noisy" part of any vacuum and becomes extremely noisy when damaged.

To Replace this part:
  1. Remove hood (4 screws underneath)
  2. Remove handle assembly ( one bolt through handle and slide off)
  3. remove the belt
  4. Remove the 2 brackets on each side of the motor that hold it in place. (4 screws)
  5. Lift motor off base assy.
  6. Remove rubber cuff around top of motor assy.
  7. Remove the 6 screws on large size of motor assy. and remove cap.
  8. Turn fan (or whats left of it) off of spindle by holding belt drive spindle on oppisite side of the motor.
  9. Replace fan and reassemble.
You can also take this to most any Hoover authorized service center, they would have the parts in stock and could probably do it for less than 50 dollars. Check their dealer locator for a local center.

Best of Luck!

No Suction

It sounds like the lint filter is clogged. It is located on the top clear plastic piece (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool use) and is on the underside. It is a small (1 inch square) red plastic piece with a little door on it. Flip open the door and it is probably clogged with hair, carpet fibre, etc.. Clean it out and hopefully you will have suction again.

Obstruction in the hose?
Your vac has developed a hairball possibly.... when a piece of flexible media ie.... cardboard, plastic etc... gets lodged in the hose, and begins collecting hair & dust to the point it no longer has enough draft to pull debris from the floor.

Upright Vacuum Cleaner Lost Suction

If you had the dryer sheet under the intake filter for any length of time you risk burning out the motor . If
it smells like burning hair and plastic then the motor is toast. Also check the hose and dust passage, but I fear that it is the motor.
Sorry...

So I was having the same problem with no brush movement. Found this inductor exploded and wire melted off for the brush motor; However, this will allow the suction motor to work. I didn't smell it as much becaues the circuit board is inside the ducting before the filter. I have been looking for a replacement board but haven't found anything so tomorrow I will replace the bad parts on the board instead. Good luck to everyone else with this problem!2c752e0.jpg6da67b0.jpg

Dirt devil mvp not sucking

Could be bad filters, is there suction at the end of the hose. That will tell you which direction to start looking. If no suction at hose end, then filters could be the problem. If you have suction, then the problem is down lower, dirt inlet is clogged, if belt has never been changed, then I am sure it has stretch to the point that under load it doesn't turn like it should. Could even be that although the motor is running, it may be running at a slower speed, in which case it would have to be replaced.
