Well check to see if there is any internet light on on your modem but it could be something more from inside the pc like your motherboard or your processor. if the processor gets too hot and it unable to cool off then it will automatically turn off the computer so there is no more further damage. if you overclocked your pc do not leave any sides of the pc open b/c you might think that it helps cool off however it does not.

Try reinstalling your modem drivers.
go to its manufacturers web site, and download the driver only from there.
it is possible that your driver is corrupt

Tablet shut down in the middle resetting. How do I finish the reset process?

Cry. Seriously, remove the drive and copy off of it any and all files that you want and need. Then format the unit and reinstall the operating system and programs from the backup disks that you have. No backup?

Now you are really ******* - see if you can get set from notebook manufacturer. If not check with your computer literate friends to see if any of them have OS installation disks.

How to Reboot or Reset a Cable or DSL Modem Properly

  1. Turn off the computer and all other devices connected to the modem before attempting to perform a reboot or reset of the modem.
  2. Remove the power plug in the back of the modem. Check your modem for a battery pack. The battery must be removed in order to fully power down the modem.
  3. Keep the power off for at least one minute and then return the power plug to the back of the modem and wait for all the lights on the front of the modem to come back on and stop flashing.
  4. If you have a router, plug it back in and wait for the lights to come on first. Next, turn on your computer. After this, your connection should be back and you can reach the Internet.
To completely reset the device back to its factory settings, follow this step:
  1. Look at the back of the modem. There should be a tiny button or hole in the back of the modem that will be labeled reset. Press this button in for a minimum of 10 seconds using a small pin or a paperclip to reset the modem. This will reset the modem to factory defaults. You will need to reset options just as if it was a brand new modem being installed.

Connected with limited access, Help!!! I've had some teething troubles with my wireless network but we got there in the end, the latest problem is this... I can connect to my network & have web access...

Let's see if this helps:
  1. Turn off everything. Computers, routers, modem and anything else printers etc.
  2. Turn on your Netgear Router. Let it cycle all the way up.
  3. Now turn on your router ONLY. Let it cycle up.
  4. Now turn on your modem and let it cycle.
  5. Now turn on everything else in any order you want.
Keep power to your router and modem on even when you turn computers off.
Use this procedure if you have a power outage, too.
It's all in the order-it allows your router to assign addresses to your computers .

I have a tm502g modem and it keeps disconnecting from the internet at various intervals. It will connect for awhile than it disconnect. After it disconnects I have to turn my computer off and unplug the...

The 502 cannot be reset by unplugging it. It has a battery. There is a reset right in the middle on the back. There is a pinhole and you push a toothpick or unrolled paperclip inside the hole and it resets. There are a couple of issues here. Does the EMTA (modem) turn off and reset, knocking you off or does your computer go off while the modem is fine (you will still have phone). If you still have phone then you have another problem. You have a router or a bad ethernet cable. If the modem is going offline I bet you have a splitter on the coax coming into your house. One lead from the splitter goes to your tv and the other your modem. If that is happening it is your splitter. It isnt bad, you just want to re-seat your cables into that splitter. Just undo them, push them in and out of the splitter a few times and your modem will go back online for another year or so

Most times when i turn on my computer, the screen flashes.

it means your computer has caught the ati2dvag bug. This bug seems to affect ATI video cards.

The 2 most common “solutions” are:
  • Reinstall the ATI driver. You are advised to launch Windows in Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows boots), go to Windows Add/Remove programs and uninstall everything ATI. Remove the DAO/MDAC component as well. You can use the ATI removal tool utility which can be downloaded from the ATI website. The complete set of instructions on removing ATI can be found here on the ATI website.
  • Go to System Devices in My Computer > Properties > Hardware, and locate the option, PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge. This could under other names on your PC, so contact your PC vendor if you’re unsure. Right click, and select the “update driver” option. Manually search and install the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge.

Won't stay connected to internet

Do any of the computers connected (wired or wireless) to the router use any file-sharing software (LimeWire, Bit Torrent) ?
If so, stop using those programs, and then see if the problem does not happen.

If the problem still exists, it's time to replace the router.

Linsys router not working with Dsl modem error 321

thank you for the clarification,
u need to perform the following steps:
1)donot use the cd for the setup.take the cd out from the computer
2)reset the router(if you look at the back of the linksys router you will see there is a small hole which contains the reset button, hold down the reset button while the router is on,once the time period of 30 sec is over turn off the router, turn it back on after 60 sec.
3)check the cables between your modem, computer and router.
4)the correct cables sequence should be following, there would be a cable going from you internet service provider modem to the back of the router(the post should be the one that is labelled internet or dsl) and there should be another ethernet(yellow/grey colored cable going from ports 1,2,3 and 4 )cable going to the back of the computer make sure the cables are plugged in properly
5)turn of the modem,router and computer,in a sequence that is given,modem----router----computer.
6)wait for 2 mins and then turn on modem wait for the light to be steady and then turn on the router wait for the lights to be steady and then at last turn the computer.
Hope this steps fixes your problem..
vedhick..
