Scattered picture bars on screen

After watching the unit, scattered horizontal "bars" show up on screen. More when watching cable channels, rarely when watching local channels. Is this typical with defection imaging?

Re: Scattered picture bars on screen

If the bars are not there when watching a dvd or vcr then i would point to a grounding problem with your cable antenna/.

Hi if your tv is a dlp it might be an issue with the DMD board Hi,Yes your problem sounds like the DMD board. This is how it works: Basically the light of the lamp goes through a tunnel that carries a color wheel(rotating disc with a gamma of colors that creates the colors on your tv)then the light of the lamp goes through the DMD board which is a chip composed of around 2 million pixels that creates the images and colors. When it starts to fail it will create black bars, pixelation, color distortion or white dots on screens. Here's a video that will help you find where the DMd chip is located : Have a blessed one!

Scattered black lines appear then screen gos black, but still have good volume

Hello 4fiddy,

You have actually diagnosed your own problem, Let me explain; the line "I can slap the left side of the tv and picture will almost always come back on" This indicate some form of poor connection (cold solder joint). If you have a soldering iron, solder (circuit type not pipe type), and a multimeter. Use the soldering iron and solder to redo the cold solder joints , and then test it (the connection) with the multimeter.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

Unable to watch DVD's on this TV

Your DVD player may be set up to put out a different mode. Are you using the component cables or s-video? If it's the component cables, make sure you're player is putting out 480p. Also, try it with another set to see of you can localize the problem.
