Hi,
there's a couple things you can try:

pull out the cartridges, and clean the contacts off with q-tip and water - also clean the contacts on the carraige. sometimes if it's not getting a clear signal, it can get confused about what it's reading.

Thanks,

SOURCE: not recognizing new ink cartridge

I had the same problem during setup. I tried the sharp rapping and four-letter words solution, but that didn't work for me. I called customer service and after a looooooong hold (apparently everyone in the universe is having problems), I talked to someone who transferred me to the "print head" part of tech support. During the conversation I had so much trouble understanding the guy that I said I wanted to take him off speaker phone so I could hear him better, and I accidentally cut off the call. Wouldn't it be nice if call center people were actually understandable in English.

Nevertheless, he did give me a couple of instructions before I lost the call, and after I did them things worked right. Here is what he said to do:

1. Remove the black and color cartridges.

2. Place finger in upper left hand corner of print head case and gently slide it down. That is when I lost the call, but as I did that the print head case easily slipped out.

I reinstalled it, put the cartridges back in, closed the printer and, voila, the calibration sequence started.

The tech guy took my number "in case we got disconnected," so he could call me back, but so far he didn't call back. Nevertheless, my printer's working. Next step is to hook it up to my computer.

Hope this helps someone.

SOURCE: dell P703 W printer and Kodak ink

Printer companies use different chemicals in their inks based on print head diameter and heat used to eject ink, using diffrent ink not supported for your printer can clog up the print head and make it useless.

Just put in new ink and printer asking for new ink. Bought the printer just over 3 months ago and haven't even copied 75 copies. New ink installed and copied maybe 10 pages and computer asking for more...

I took out both inks, I then removed the tray they fit in. Turn it upside down and clean the contacts, use a soft cloth and dampen alittle. Clean all ink off bottom of ink tray. This solved my problem

Check color ink always blinks and does not allow to do any job.

Make sure that you installed the correct ink. It is not enough for it to fit, the numbers on the cartridge have to match those on the cartridges you replaced. You may also have problems with off brand ink that claims to work. Use Kodak ink. Also, many of the Kodak have the ink jet nozzle on the printer, not the cartridge. You can try cleaning in and around the cartridge casing, especially on the copper areas, with an alcohol swab. Then run the cleaning utility on the printer 2 or 3 times.

My kodak 5300 will not accept the new ink cartridges

The version of firmware you originally had on the printer when you changed the ink cartridge was bad. There is a known issue that when you put in a new ink cartridge when the printer is in the error state "COLOR INK EMPTY. REPLACE COLOR INK CARTRIDGE" the unit writes that value to the new ink cartridge so you will continue to have that error.

So to fix your problem Open the access door and Remove the ink cartridges. Then download and install the new Firmware. Heres the link.

Kodak AiO 5300 Firmware

Then sadly you have to go get another new ink tank and install it.

If you can get through to kodak you should request reimbursement of some sort like a free set of ink tanks.
