Emachine T2484 will not power up

I have an emachine T2484 that will not power on. I replaced the power supply hoping that would fix it, no luck. I unhooked the power switch from the motherboard and linked the two pins on the motherboard briefly together with a screwdriver to see if my switch was bad, it did not start. I replaced the motherboard, no luck. I double checked the power supply on another system and it works fine. I replaced the power cord, no luck. Now I am clueless as to what to do next. Any suggestions?

Try to start it without any memory in it (RAM), if it beeps then you have bad RAM. If you have more than 1 piece of RAM then try one at a time and see if it will boot. If it doesn't beep and still doesn't turn on your CPU is probably the culprit since you have a new motherboard and power supply. I would also try unplugging everything that is unnecessary like the CD-ROM, Hard drive, sound card, etc..

Emachine troubleshooting

This is typically caused by a power supply failure. Failing power supplies can have enough power to turn on lights and fans but not enough to start the computer. The power supply does not store any data so replacing it is a low risk and low cost effort. It is a very well documented process so search the Internet for "replace power supply" for more details. I hope this helps. Good luck!

There can be two problems with your PC. either the power supply is faulty which is highly probable, and the other is that your Motherboard maybe faulty or both things are faulty. Try replacing the Power supply first. It should solve your problem.

I have a T3626 emachine that I replaced the drive.

check all your ground screws on the motherboard. If that doesn't work try booting it up with out the hard drive. if that doesn't work, pop out the BIOS battery and unplug your computer, let it sit for about a min. and put the battery back in and restart.

As for the fans, make sure your connections are tight and in the proper sockets.

Emachine power supply

Unfortunately, E-Machines are well known for their power supply problems. I have a room full of them.

Let me guess, you can hear something rattling around in the power supply, right?

When this happens, a component blows cleanly off of the board inside, and sends a voltage spike to the mainboard.

With any luck, the hard drive logic board wasn't damage, and you can recover your data with another PC.

Need boot load for emachine T2484

Hi, You need to enter your CMOS/BIOS setup and set your "First Boot Device". Immediately after powering up, press the "Del" key, display will show CMOS/BIOS settings. Verify that all your hard disks are being detected/recognized by your PC. Thereafter, set your First boot device to your new HD. Save and Exit. Hope this be of some idea/help. Post back how things are or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.
