If you are copying from MS word for example, you need to highlight the data you need to copy by moving your cursor to the beginning of data and press shift then down arrow keys until your desired data is highlighted. Then press CTRL c (to copy) and press CTRL v to paste.

Hope this helps.

hold down the left mouse button and move the mouse over the desired text you wish to select to copy and then let go of the left mouse button
so it is highlighted and then
hold down CTRL key and press C to copy

If it is apple the apple key and C I think does copy
Any edit tab option on the program usually has copy and paste
You can also use in Windows the right mouse button to bring up a menu where copy and paste are options to select.
If you are copying files you can also use CTRL A for select All
CTRL to select more than one item
Shift to select a range of items
if Windows
If you are using ubuntu the shift key plus CTRL plus V must also be used when pasting into the terminal window.

Hoe to copy & paste for I Mac

How to copy and paste is similar on most computers.
1. Use your mouse to select (highlight) the picture or text you want to copy and paste.
2. While the information is selected, use your mouse and go the the Edit pull down menu in why ever application program you are using and select Copy. Once done you now have a copy in memory.
3. Go to the place where you want to paste the information and click with your mouse on the spot where you want to paste the information. For example in an email, select the line in the document where you want it to go, and then once you see you have a flashing text cursor symbol in the correct place, again to to the Edit menu and select Paste on the pull down menu. Your item should then paste at the position you selected.

If you happen to have a 2 button mouse, as often used with PC's you can right click the item you want to copy once selected and a pop up menu will come up asking if you want to cut, copy, or paste.

Copy and paste

Thanks for posting your question here at fixya! ;)
You must select text (or some item in the document or content you are working with) to turn on the menu item you wish to use. On the keyboard, the keyboard shortcut for copy is ctrl+c, and the shortcut for paste is ctrl+v. After copying the item you wish to paste, (you may want to click into the area you wish to paste) use the ctrl+v to finish the paste function.

Have the computer screen on the item you wish to "copy" then hit the Print Screen key, without copying anything else so that your picture stays on the clipboard (or "in the mouse") go to your picture editing program, ie. How can I fix the drvstre file?

If your asking how do I Copy and Paste ... several keyboard commands exist to help with this method. I call it a Method because you are asking the program to do a task, this case copy and paste. And of coarse a User can still use the Mouse to Copy and Paste. Both Methods will be described.

The [Ctrl] control button on the key board will allow the user to cut and paste what they want. These are considered keyboard shortcuts.

Step one: select the object(s), by highlighting it with the mouse. Right click and drag the mouse over the desired item(s). Or if the entire page needs to be copied, Ctrl + A will select everything on the page once the curser is placed at beginning of the page.

Step two: Once the user has selected what they want, depending on the function they performed for the selection, ( by right-clicking the mouse and dragging over item(s) ) the user now selects Copy ( makes a copy of the selected item ) or Cut ( removes the item from the original page ) from the drop-down message, and prepairs to Paste the selection to the new page or position ... keep in mind, Ctrl + C will copy the highlighted item as well.

Step three: to paste the item on new page, user left-clicks the point were they expect the item to be placed. And again, depending on the function called upon, will right-click and select Paste from the drop down box. Or press the Ctrl + V buttons. The selected item will appear at the point were the curser is flashing.

Helpful hint about [Ctrl] methods. Ctrl + X will delete the selected item, Ctrl + Z will undo prior editing steps. [Ctrl] methods are quick, easy functions, that allow the user to become productive. I recommend that the [Ctrl] method be emploted whenever possible. I hope you enjoy. Have fun.
