Peter, your system clock can be reset on your Windows screen, either in the lower right if you have the time function displayed (double-click to time and make any adjustments) or by going to Control Panel/Date and Time icon to do the same thing.

Battery AND FAN

the only battery I know that is in a desktop is the bios battery, located on the mainboard/motherboard and is a little round silver battery about 1 inch (25mm) in diameter carefully remove this and replace with a new one. You may have to reset any bios settings you had, like the time and date but if you don't know what other setting were then when you switch on to access the bios you tap the "del" key or it could be "F2" on some machines, it is normally displayed in the bottom of the screen when you boot which key it is, just keep tapping it until you get the bios settings, once you get into to bios select the "restore to default" setting. It is possible you wont have to alter anything and if you replace the battery quick enough it will hold your original settings, so a quick tip is to get the number off the battery and get a replacement before you remove the old one. The other thing that could cause your problem is that your power supply is faulty, but go for the cheaper option before you go buying a new supply. As a last thought, I don't suppose you are using a UPS (uninterrupted power supply)? I don't think this would cause the problem but if you are remove it and go direct just to try it.

This could mean two things: a problem with the cmos battery or the motherboard itself. Try to remove the cmos battery first and install. If not, then replace the cmos battery.

Some time ago, after installing Windows 7, my Dell 1525 started changing internal clock as it wants: yesterday there was 2010, today is 2021... But it wouldn't be a serious problem if the laptop worked...

Go to http://support.dell.com and download the latest BIOS update for your system.

Please remember NOT to power down your system when flashing the BIOS.

Reset your system time inside windows and see if system time won't change by it's own. If time is stable, then you fixed it. If system time changed again, the you have to other choice but to replace the CMOS battery.

Time-of-day clock stopped on dell xps m1330

When you alter the Date and Time and next time you boot up again the date and time has reverted back to some other time, this indicated the BIOS battery is flat and it needs to be replaced.
To fix this problem, replace the BIOS battery and change the date and Time setting.

How to know dell 370 precision battery

If the battery is changed, that will mean that the BIOS was set back to january 1 1980.
Go into BIOS, set the clock to the correct time.

For DELL 370 precision , here is the BIOS instruction:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ws370/

Replacing the Battery caution.gif CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions located in the Product Information Guide. notice.gif NOTICE: To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your body before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted metal surface on the computer.
A coin-cell battery maintains computer configuration, date, and time information. The battery can last several years.
The battery may need replacing if you have repeatedly reset the time and date information after turning on the computer or if one of the following messages appear:
Time-of-day not set - please run SETUP program
or
Invalid configuration information -
please run SETUP program
or
Strike the F1 key to continue,
F2 to run the setup utility
To determine whether you need to replace the battery, reenter the time and date in system setup and exit the program to save the information. Turn off your computer and disconnect it from the electrical outlet for a few hours; then reconnect the computer, turn it on, and enter system setup. If the date and time are not correct in system setup, replace the battery.
You can operate your computer without a battery; however, without a battery, the configuration information is erased if the computer is turned off or unplugged from the electrical outlet. In this case, you must enter system setup and reset the configuration options.
