Dryer wont heat

The only thing left to check is the voltage at the heating coil. IF it is not present then the timer or relay is bad.

My speed queen aem497w is 15 years old and quit drying recently, no heat ,drum spins as usual, vent is clear , what gives ? Dave from Canal Winchester,Ohio

Hi - I am not too familiar with Speed Queens, I work a lot on Maytags, however the principals are the same.

So here goes - there is most like to be an open circuit due to the following , bad/burnt wire or terminal somewhere close to the heat elements, open circuit on the two thermostats & the over-temp fixed close to the elements, the outside chance of the thermal fuse blown.

One would noramally gain access thru the front (Best) and often from the back, sorry I cannot guide you on this as stated earlier.

There is no reset button, check yoru breaker, by turning FULLY OFF (somewhat forcefully off) then back on and test again.

All thermal limiters will auto reset when cooled...

Dryer will not heat up Does run

It's probably the thermostats that are normally attatched to the element or it could be the element itself. They are nprmally placed in the rear of the appliance.

The thermostats will only cost a few pounds.

The dry will not get hot the knob had sparks that came from it

there are many different things that could lead to no heat condition, first check the input power terminal strip where the power cord enters and make sure the leads arnt burnt off, then the hi-limit switch found on the heating element case can be bad,an open heating element, a bias thermostat in some machines, you will need to open up the machine to check most of these parts except the power input with a multi-meter

Huebsch Electric Dryer won't dry

Look for a faulty high limit due to excessive lint buildup in the machine. That or either the element is bad. very simple machine to repair. Huebsh electric? Better look at old style speed queen dryers for comparison. better yet Click THIS
