Try to recover what you can before formatting the USB drive, then try recovery software, then reformat & try it again - that sounds like desperation, but why not? And realize it is possible you will recover nothing; vital information shouldn't be stored only on a flash drive, but I guess you know that already. Also replace the flash drive & don't even try to save to your current one. Sorry to be so negative, but a friend lost nearly 8 GB when a flash drive died...and no backup.

I had also experienced this kind of problem. What I tried is reformat my USB then I used my recovery software to recover my files and I save it all. If reformatting does not success then your USB is defective try to use other pc to insure that the problem is not in USB port.

How to recover a corrupt MS Project 2000 file

If you've literally overwritten the file with the same name, you probably have no hope of recovering it off the USB (see last suggestion though).

If you were working off the computer, MS Project always saves a .BAK file to the same location where the .MPP file resides, so you might find that. It could be hidden so you need to show hidden files in Windows to check.

If you were working off the USB, then you may find a .BAK file on there as well.

Another possibility is temp directories on the computer you were working on. Try typing into the search bar on the computer you were working yourfilename.*

Lastly, but a bit of a stretch, you could try downloading and running

Project Recovery Kit

http://www.all-recovery-inc.com/#!/mpprecoverytool

on the USB key to see if by some chance it's got another deleted version named differently or a .BAK file perhaps to at least recover some of it. If you do find other versions of the file, DO NOT recover to your USB, recover to another drive from the USB.

This is my first flash drive. How do I record to it? How do I play back from it?

Flash drives are used like floppy discs. Take off the cover, plug in the drive to a USB port and wait for the computer to acknowledge it. Usually it will get a drive letter assignment of E: unless you have multiple optical drives or a card reader that may have that drive letter in use. Transfer files by copying them in the file explorer. I like to have two windows open (one with the folder the file is starting in and the other the window for the contents of the flash drive).

Alternatively, open the file in the appropriate program and (for most OS versions) File > Save As and browse to the flash drive. Check the file name and click OK.

To use a file on any computer, open the file explorer and browse to the flash drive. Double click on the file and the associated program (or another that handles that file type) will open if it is on that computer. Then you can edit the file. If you are using a different computer, when you return to your main computer. Transfer the file back to the Documents (My Documents) or other folder in the File Explorer.

Make sure the USB port is active (try another if the flash drive doesn't work). Some USB ports can be disabled for power savings or security. On Windows the first is an Advanced Setting from the screen saver. The second is found in the device manager (Control Panel > System and Security > System for Win7).

I hope this helps.

My new nokia n900 phone tells me memory full, delete data to free memory but i have 26 G memory available. because of this it can nnot save messages and other files. what can possibly be the problem please

Back up all your data and file(s), example your contact and messages. Install Nokia PC Suite latest version from the website nokia. By installing nokia pc suite you can open your phone memory card and memory card to save it to your computer. After saving your contacts, messages and other files it is time to format your nokia n900 using nokia pc suite. Then test you phone.

Hello, instead of saving it as a MovieMaker file, save it as an .avi or a .wmv file. That way, Media player can locate the right codec for this file.

run a check disk on the memory stick - most likely a good indicator that the flash drive is on its way out as they normally have a life span of about a year or two.

USB Mass Storage

Try opening some files saved in your usb. Example if you have files saved in excel format, open your excel program then click in open files and select files saved in your usb. You will be able to open the files in excel using this method. You can do the same for any file you want to open. The downside is you cannot open the whole usb file and navigate or explore as usual.
