Re: administrator/password

You can remove it and/or change passwords, once you've logged in!

So it sounds like you have the option to log in as one of 2 users?

Try logging in as Administrator & don't enter a password, just hit enter.

If that doesn't work, try the same with the user account that has your name. If that doesn't work, try the user name as the password too.

The Microsoft website says that the only way to fix this problem is to reinstall the operating system. There are other (free) ways to get a fix easily found on the internet if you Google "XP forgotten password", but I can't post them here. I have never used them so couldn't vouch for their credibilty and besides, ultimately I would be sharing information to enable people to gain access to password-protected computers they are not supposed to have access to.

When you do get in, go to Control Panel / User Accounts & get things set up the way you'd like.

Let me know how you get on!

How to set up an wireless password on my linksys? please help. thanks

Hi there.

Type this into your web browser:

It will bring you to the Linksys setup page.

A window will pop up prompting you for a username and password to access the configuration page for your router. Enter "admin" (without quotes) for both the username and password.

From there you can change your router name if you feel like it.

click on the Wireless tab at the top of the settings screen. Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) from the default value to something unique (you can use the same name you set as your Router Name in the previous step. Then Disable the Wireless SSID Broadcast option and click Save Settings.

Now click on the Wireless Security subsection at the top of the page. In order to password protect your wireless network first use the Security Mode dropdown box to select WEP and then from the WEP Security dropdown box select 128 bits 26 hex digits. Choose a password between 6 and 8 characters and type it into the Passphrase box. Then click Generate. Finally click Save Settings.

Hi I have another computer a windows xp and I forgot my password what can I do without paying money to recover it do I need to make a system repair disk on this computer

The first thing you can do is try accessing the Administrator account. To make this easier, boot into Safe Mode, and login as Administrator. Turn on the computer, and keep tapping F8 as soon the the bios/post/splash screen is passed, you have to do this quickly. If you do this correctly, you'll see the Windows Advanced Boot Menu, hightlight the Safe Mode using your keyboard's up/down arrow keys and press enter to select and start booting. Wait until you see the the Windows xp welcome screen, select "Administrator" and proceed, if you see any warning message, click "Ok" or "yes", once you are logged in, right-click "My Computer", select "Manage". The Computer Management window will open up, now locate "Local Users and Groups", click the "+" sign beside it and again click "Users", look at the right-pane, you'll see your username (the username you've forgotten your password), right-click your username, and click "Set Password" or if "Reset Password" is available, click it. Set a new password and there you go, you now have reset your windows xp password. Please note that if you have any "encrypted" files or folders, you may be having problem opening them, but if you don't know what is encrypted in Windows, I guess you didn't do that.

Once everything is done, restart your computer and login to your account.

If in case your Administrator account has a password, you won't be able to do this, in many instances, the Administrator password is "admin" (without quotes), so you can try with it, otherwise you'll need a tool like Ophrack or Nt Password reset tool to get this done.

Let me know if you need further help..

Good Luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

I bought a systemax computer from a school and can,t get beyond the boot password to see what i bought

I don't know what you mean by boot password, but i am going to assume that you mean the bios password. Disconnect your computer, open it, and remove the CMOS battery. Wait 3 minutes. Boot it up without the CMOS battery; it should say password disabled. Put it back togethter. If it is the regular login password, then make sure your logging in under "this computer", not under the school network. type in administrator as the user name, and login. There shouldn't be a password. If your school technician was smart though, he may have locked the administrator account down too.

I got a acer aspire 5334 laptop with windows 7 home premium, & I am the only user on the laptop. I am stuck at the login page because I forgot my password . I typed in millions of different passwords....

You don't have to reinstall Windows 7, here are some method I know:
1. Log on your computer by using built-in Administrator account in safe mode, its password is default blank if you never change it. So that you can use it to change all other user password.
2.Use a password reset disk if you have already created.
3.If the methods above are unavailable, you have to reinstall your system,or else you must use a password tool to crack it.
Recomend you to use "Windows password rescuer professional",it is simple and safe, and can recover windows password in several minutes. You can free download here:,and try it free if you need. Follow the steps you can easily recover the password,It is only four steps:
11_24_2011_2_36_03_pm.jpg Step 1: Download Windows Password Rescuer
Step 2: Burn bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive
Step 3: BIOS setting, setup your computer boot from CD/DVD or USB
Step 4: Reset Windows password by a few clicks.
GO to Windows Password Rescuer official site: ' 'for more info.
