Question about Microsoft Windows XP Professional With Servise Pack 2 (e8503040) for PC
You can remove it and/or change passwords, once you've logged in!
So it sounds like you have the option to log in as one of 2 users?
Try logging in as Administrator & don't enter a password, just hit enter.
If that doesn't work, try the same with the user account that has your name. If that doesn't work, try the user name as the password too.
The Microsoft website says that the only way to fix this problem is to reinstall the operating system. There are other (free) ways to get a fix easily found on the internet if you Google "XP forgotten password", but I can't post them here. I have never used them so couldn't vouch for their credibilty and besides, ultimately I would be sharing information to enable people to gain access to password-protected computers they are not supposed to have access to.
When you do get in, go to Control Panel / User Accounts & get things set up the way you'd like.
Let me know how you get on!
