I need to find the schematic for the motherboard because the IC in question burned off part of the part number that is stamped in the top of the circut.

How old is this motherboard? If an IC is burnt beyond recognition, you will probably do better to replace the motherboard. There are 2 important reasons. 1. Most modern motherboards use Surface Mount Devices, you do not have the tools to solder them in without burning them or the board up. 2. Usually the chip that burns up, does so because of another problem.

I will recommend you to do not try to replace any IC of the motherboard, because that model of motherboard is very sensitive to heat and you may ruin the motherboard while soldering the new IC. I will recommend spend a little money and buy a new motherboard.

Ok i have an Elitegroup ecs rs400-a and i cant get it to work when i start the computer it just gives me a black screen and i cannot even enter the bios it just gves me the blank screen :( any advice?

Test the leads that attach to your ((hard drive from the motherboard)) or replace all the leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions + IDE,SATA and the ones that attach from your ((motherboard to hard drive))
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs its connections needs its connections continue its cycle and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error also check your computer ram and Cmos battery make sure they are securely seated
a computer needs current and data to travel to and through every working device and have an end to work
hope this helps

Need to find out ram capacity so i can up grade it. currently using 2 ddr2 1 gb ram cards, could it support 2 2 gb?

Should, but under win XP, only 3G is usable. Vista and Win 7 do not have that limit, although they have other issues with board drivers.
