Question about Mitsubishi WS-55905 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WS-55905 No picture or sound, but TV stays powered on

I got a WS-55905 for free after the previous owner said the set had problems with horizontal lines. Once I got it home all I can get it to do is turn on. I read that someone suggested that the power supply might be the problem, but the tv powers on just fine. Would part of the board need a repair and it still power on?

On newer Mitsubishi models the tv won't be able to stay on if the IC's are bad. You can turn it on but 2 seconds after the screen comes on it turns off. The previous owner said there were horizontal lines going across the screen and he couldn't figure out what the problem was. Have you ever had that problem, because I believe my issue stems from that. I will try replacing the IC's, Thanks again for your help.

PS> On the Sony KP-65XBR10W remote where is the channel button?

I was refering to other tv's I have repaired in my 2nd sentence above. This tv (ws-55905) has no video or audio. I think I can change inputs, but I have no way to tell if it actually does.

The IC's were fine. I took them out and put the board back in and the set does the same thing. I have no video or sound anyone else?

I have the same problem as before. Your advice did not solve anything. My rating is strictly related to the problem being solved.

When someone wants my help/advice I gladly give it because I figure the more solutions that are listed on here and throughout the internet, the less questions will need to be asked. Your answer did not fix my problem, if you'd like to try again, give it a shot. I post my questions and read old posts because there is a wealth of kowledge that I like to use to gain some of my own. I've been doing this for about a year and have learned a lot, but obviously need help.

I put in 2 new stk392-040 IC's and found a broken lead on the 3rd pin in the middle 15 pin connector on the right side of the Convergence board. I still don't get a solid high voltage whine, but it does beep every 3 seconds or so.

Its a V24 chassis---it will blank or turn the picture tubes off for a number of reasons--all self protection. Someone would have to look---I presume when you say no picture you mean no light of any kind on the screen.

If no raster (no light of any kind on the screen) problem could be in Vertical or Horizontal sweep circuits which covers quite a few possible parts.

If the set had for example a blue screen only or is stuck on one input there is always to possible hard reset but that will not cure no raster.

The picture on tv looks dimmed on my mitsubishi WS-55905

There are a few things to try first if you have not done so:

If the set has not been "serviced" for several years, unplug it and remove the back cover. You will see 3 large black lens dead center above the main boards-------wipe them clean either with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on the towel.

If the lens are dusty, the picture will be darker and duller looking than it used to be.

Let me know what you find as I am here to help.

Mitsu model #ws-55905 Started losing picture while watching a DVD. The next day it worked fine. Now it lost the picture and sound completly. I have no response at power on, only the green power indicator....

actually something on the main board was getting overheated before due to that it was loosing the picture.and now that component is got totally overheated and blowned/burned out.so its quite necessary to replace that faulty component from the board by checking it with a meter.so its advisable that you do not turn on your tv to avoid further damages till it gets repaired.
