Fuel Starvation - Float Bowl Carburetor
1) remove air filter assembly
*be cautious of tearing the mounting gasket. If it does tear, you HAVE to replace it. It is part of the priming system
2) remove the float bowl fastener. This is the main jet
3) carefully remove the float bowl, the rubber o-ring/gasket will not be able to be used if it is removed, you WILL have to replace it
4) using a spray 'carb cleaner'
spray up thru the center of the carburetor
spray and clean the main jet with cleaner and 'tag' wire
(tag wire is very thin, and can be used to clean the hole in the center of the main jet)
5) clean any debris from inside the bowl or carb body
6) re-install bowl and center bolt, air filter assembly

*if you need gaskets, your Briggs dealer can supply. The kit is cheaper than individual gaskets, and all the parts needed to finish the above repair are in the kit.

Stops running then will not restart

need more info. It sounds like it does run or you would have stated it stopped working and will not work anymore. I need more info please.
When it stops is it because you gave it the throttle and it quit or does it just up and die as if it ran out of gas in which case it will sputter first or does it run then instantly start to stop then instantly run again. What I can do at this point is give you somewhere to start. Number one the on off switch can be faulty and will cause it to start to instantly die and then immediately run again and also maybe go dit-dit-dit-dit while running like it was skipping or sputtering. How old is this saw? Inside the fuel tank is a filter. If you take a flashlight you will see it. reach in with something and pull it out with the hose. be careful not to damage the hose. Remove and replace the filter. If it runs good til it gets hot and if you loosen the gas cap it takes off running again, replace the gas cap as the vent hole is plugged. So if can reply back with more info.

1998 pontiac sunfire manual. Car starts but sputters and then dies and is completly dead but in the morning will start again and then die. I changed the coil pack but still the same. what can it be?

You can't do any testing, until you have a battery
that will take and hold a charge

Then you move on to testing the Alternator, then
Fuel Pressure & continue on with other testing

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee started knocking. Multiple local mechanics determined it needed new motor. A "reman" motor was puchased ($3600) and installed. On test drive the car ran great then...

All I can say is do some research online find a REPUTABLE shop and let them drive it until it dies. Three things are needed for an engine to run: spark, fuel, compression. I doubt it is a compression problem being that it is a new engine. Something is causing either spark or fuel to drop out, a good mechanic should be able to quickly identify what is missing from the equation. Find a shop with a lab scope that can test sensors that send signals to the engine computer. It could be as simple as a fuel pump getting hot and quitting. Good Luck!

Engine will turn over freely but will not start. engine was running when it sputtered and died and will not restart on a 2000 Crysler Sebring Coupe, 2.5, 2 door. May have ran out of gas. added 5 gal but...

see if the cam is turning when trying to start the engine (look through the oil filler cap) if its not, you may have a broken timing belt (and engine damage) if it wasn't empty on the fuel gauge I doubt it ran out of gas.
