Yes, this is true. The HE detergent is specially formulated to produce a low amount of suds, during the wash cycle. The use of a Non- HE detergent will cause the unit to over sud, during the cycle. Front loaders are vulnerable to over sudding, due to the design, and drum orientation. This is why you should only use a HE formulated detergent in this unit. A non HE detergent will cause a system shutdown. The CCU will issue a SUD CODE, and the unit will be rendered inoperable for a short time, or until the suds are removed. To prevent this inconvenience, simply use the recommended HE detergent that is specially formulated for your unit.

The he detergent is a softer compuond, thus disolving easier, also has an alge reducing compuond, reducing the risk of mildew and unpleasant smells, if you use regular soap, you r asking fo plugged water ports.

Like everyone else it' the soap residue. I believe the problem is due to the low water. Will anyone admit to it? I have done everything I was told to do. This happened the first time I used it so there is...

The front loaders use a lot less detergent. We use 20% of the detergent compared to an old top loader. Run the machine empty and use vinegar instead of detergent. See if that starts to remove the buildup.

Tip

Getting Rid of Front Loader Mildew and Odor

This advice is for that awful mildew smell associated with front loader style washing machines.
Place the washer on the hottest setting you have with nothing but bleach in the wash tub. Some newer models actually have a “Clean Cycle” available now just for this purpose. This helps keep the wash tub, drain lines and pump sanitized.

CHECK AND CLEAN THE DRAIN PUMP FILTER. Accumulations of debris in the drain pump filter can also cause odors. HINT: If you own a shop vac, pull the drain hose from the standpipe at the wall and pull a vacuum on the line. This will drain any residual water left in the tub, pump and drain lines BEFORE you remove the drain pump cover. This will prevent a messy clean up later.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN IF POSSIBLE. When not in use, leave the door open to allow the tub to air out and to keep mold and mildew from forming on the door bellow. I know this may not be desirable in some households with small children. If too much mildew forms on the rubber and it cannot be removed, replacement of the bellow may be required.

USE HE DETERGENT ONLY. Using regular detergent, or improper amounts of detergent can contribute to the build up of soap scum in which dirt can collect. Regular detergent is formulated to be used in a conventional wash tub with capacity of about 35 gallons. A high efficiency front loader only uses 5 to 7 gallons of water. So, if you use regular detergent in a front loader, you are, in affect, using about 5 times the concentration of detergent needed. This can cause oversudsing, premature wear on the pump motor and parts, premature wear on rubber seals, odor from sticky soap residue and skin irritations caused by soap residue left in clothing. Using improper detergent will also void the manufacturer's warranty. Make sure you READ all detergent labels some HE detergent is double (2X) and triple (3X) concentrated.

My Frigidaire Washing machine keeps flashing EFO in the ddisplay glass; What does that indicate?

EFO or EF0, indicates a problem with the detergent - either you're using too much, or you're not using HE detergent, which is meant for most front loaders.

When in wash it dosent remove all soap powder from clothes

I don't know how you are administering the soap powder to the machine..but for one, its recommended that you use detergent thats made exclusively for the front loader washer, usually says "he" on the front of the LIQUID detergent, they recommend that you use liquid detergent on top of that, BUT if you have to use regular powder detergent it must be put inside the tub and NOT the pull out detergent drawer. The reason why they want you to use liquid is because the powder detergent is not concentrated and when you use it, it lathers up alot and its harder for the front loader machine to clean out the clothes and I was told that they (sales agents) have heard of soap suds and bubble floods coming from the machine due to either using the powder detergent or using too much. Hope that this helps!!

Can you use regular detergent with front loader washers??

All manufactures suggest using a high efficiecy detergent. They are specially formulated to keep the suds level low and work well with the low water levels of a front loader. Boxes are marked with an HE on them letting you know they are for high effiency machines. Regular detergents were designed for washers that use many gallons of water.

Do Frigidaire Front Load Washers require H&E detergents?

The answer is YES. Nearly all front loader washers built for consumers are rated as high efficiency because of the small amount of water and electricity they use. This small amount of water, coupled with a wash tub that does not agitate continously, followed by a high speed final spin of 1200 rpms or higher, all equate to an overall energy savings as compared to a conventional top loader. Regular detergent is formulated to be used in a wash tub with a 35 gallon capacity. So, if you use that same detergent in a wash tub that uses 5 to 7 gallons of water (such as yours), you are in effect putting about 5 times the concentration in the washer. This can lead to soap scum build up which causes odors, soap deposits that remain in your clothing and can cause skin irritation, "SUDS" errors that stop the wash program due to too much suds in the wash tub, and premature wear on the drain pump motor and seals. In fact, most front loaders will have a disclaimer added in the owner';s manual that explains this. Most manufacturers will also void the warranty if it is discovered you are using improper detergent. Use HE detergent and pay attention to the label. Some of them are double (2X) and triple (3X) concentrated. I hope this helps you.

Is powder or liqued detergent better for front

They are trying to make money off you!!!!!!! LIQUID!!!! Dont ever!!! use powder soap in your front loader. Powder soap doesnt dissolve all the way and then gets into the bearings of the washer and eats them away! This caused about a 450 dollar repair for your repairman. Never use powder soap.

Allergic to detergent for front loaders

I have always used regular Tide powder in mine and my kids use Tide liquid in it. You just need to use about half as much. My man is a motor head so he gets DIRTY and I have three teens so I wash a lot of very dirty clothes. My clothes get very clean and I have never purchased the "special" Detergent.

I have had my Duet for three years.
