Most likely the knob itself just broke. You would do better to replace the knob than glue it because if you glued it and ever had to replace the timer then you might cause more damage getting the knob back off.

Can't start washer the knob that you pull to it won't come out.

Dear Jill.
I fix washers, and it sounds like a couple things may be the reason for your problem.
1) The timer itself may be broken, and need replacement. Or,
2) The ears on the timer body may have broken off, preventing the timer knob from working.
(Remember, there are "a hundred" different kinds of washing machines, so it is really good to identify your machine completely whenever you ask for help.)
I have had several washers recently that were broken with the symptoms yours has.
The timer body (inside the control panel) is plastic.
Because someone was rough with it, or because the plastic got old and became more breakable, the ears break off easily.
The plastic ears are what hold the timer in position so the knob will work in-and-out correctly.
God bless your efforts.

Model # LSR5132PQ The front part (white and gray) portion of the Cycle Control Knob falls off.

There are four different styles on this machine LSR5132PQ 1-4. I would recommend looking at the parts diagram and purchase the switch behind the panel and the knob.
That will fix it.

look up you parts here

Heater/AC control no longer allows change in temperature

You have one of two possible problems.

1) The temperature shaft retention nut is loose behind the knob

2.) The wires to the potentiometer part of the temperature may be broken.

Either one is common to this vehicle. The replacement of the AC controller is about 900 dollars. If the wires are broken, they can easily be reattached to the circuit board via soldering. What you would have to do is remove the control box from the dash, and disassemble it. Once the unit is apart, there are 3 wires from the temp knob to the circuit board that need to be re-soldered. The unit CAN be repaired, as opposed to the expense of replacing it.

AC knob wont switch all the way over to heat...

  1. so the knob is either broken or stiff to move and plyers wont turn all the the way to throw heat or cold air out for you.
  2. gently undo the two screws underneath your heater controls ( 2 screws)
  3. after that pull that peice out (there are no clips so it should be easy)
  4. after that is out you have more room to play with (getting your hand up behind the controls)
  5. now take the peice around the heater knobs and cd player off there are a few clips on this part so be careful not to break any but if gentle should come out easy.
  6. after thats off unscrew the cd player and unconnect the attena wire (small black wire hooked at far left of cd player) and the other radio harness.
  7. after that remove cd player out of the way.
  8. then you can see that your heater/ ac knob switch is controlled by a plastic arm try and push all the way to the left for heat and right for cold air. (this is one of the ways if they plyers arent working anymore)
  9. another place to look if your not getting the right results yet is underneath near the gas a break pedal to the right its a white plastic peice with another arm system in which you can either push toward the front of the car for heat or back to driver for cold air (may have them mixed up but either or should give results)
  10. re assembe and your good to go rather then a costly trip to the dealership if your just looking to stay warm in the winter or cool in the summer.

My Hoover 550 wil not stop filling with water

Possibly caused by a leaking water level sensor. Turn off the power, remove 3 screws at top back of control panel. Rotate the control panel forward and have a look at the white rubber hose on the left hand side. Check that it is connected at both ends and not perished. Also check that the adjuster cam (turn the level knob and look behind) is not broken.

How to remove the washer cycle selection/start-stop knob on a Whilpool Heavy Duty Thin Twin stacked washer dryer

I believe the selector knob on a Whirpool just has to be turned counter-clockwise with the selector pushed in. It will spin off the shaft and then the outer indicator dial will pull off. The shaft also has a keyed slot that will only allow the dial to be removed and installed one way, so there should be no question as to how it goes back on.

Was there a reason as to why you are removing the washer selector knob? If this is a simple matter of replacing a broken water temperature selector, you shouldn't have to remove any of the control knobs to gain access to the selector. The entire front panel comes off by removing the screws holding it in place. That way you can access the broken selector from behind the front panel much easier. Just remove the panel right above the washer top (under the dryer) and it should expose the front panel mounting screws. Remove these screws and the front panel comes off. Just make sure the unit is unplugged before you begin. I hope this helps you. Let me know if you need further assistance.
