DISC ERROR READ

My PS3 is second hand from Gamestation ive only had it for 4 months and now it keeps crashing when loading games at the game menu. sometimes it doesnt even read disks is their anyway i can repair it? I might bring it back to Gamestation.

ps3 discs dvd`s en cd`s, don`t load.
the ps3 itself is still working.

my brother has 80gb which has the same prob but my 60 is ok...do u know the score???

i have the same problem ive tried anything even reset my ps3 i was level 5 and a half in trophies:'( and it didnt even worked... my PS3 just broke up 2 days before my birthday! WTF???

when you start up the ps3 it goes to a screen that says playstation 3. it doesnt go off of that screen

I have the same problem. My PS3 worked great for 10 months, now it wont read discs. i bought it last xmas with nothing but best buy gift cards.

Ive since moved and lost the receipt, and Best Buy cant reprint it since i paid with gift cards i no longer have.

Sony customer service couldn't care less. No receipt, no repair without $150 fee. They know that the console was manufactured just 13 months ago, because they print the date of manufacture on the bottom of the unit. They know when I first took it online, when I registered it, when I signed up for my PSN account, all within the 12 month warranty period. I think that a company with good customer service should be able to give a repeat customer the benefit of the doubt, especially on such an expensive product and especially given the number of people that are experiencing the same problem.

I sent an email to Sony CEO howard.stringer@am.sony.com. I received a call back from someone at the Playstation division, but he and I have been playing phone tag ever since. Even if they do fix it under warranty for me, I don't think customers should have to email the CEO to get Sony to honor their warranty. But, if they don't fix it, they have lost my business for life.

i have had my ps3 for about a year. it was working perfectly for about 7 month but one day i was trying to play GTA IV and it would not read. so i took it out and put in Metal Gear Solid 4 same thing, took it out put in HAZE. the same thing happens with all my games. i put them in and i see the loading sign in the top right corner of the TV and the game never pops up. i have tried everything i restored it about 7 different times. i see stuff all over the internet about alot of people having the same problem as me. and i think its ******** that i had to spend 400 dollars on a system that brakes down by it self.

my ps3 in abt 8 months old, i had heavenly sword cd.it used to run perfectly,but after i bought burnout paradise,the game started runing properly,but aftr an hour of play....."PS3 DISC ERROR"had suddenly popped up....then i restarted the console,then i saw, it jus wont read the disc,and worse,it did not read my heavenly sword,nor my other dvds.or any cd....wat todo? plz help..........

I have the 80Gb which bought last christmas and lost the receipt the console does not read any movie game or cd. I kept it free of dust and debris i did update the firmware not sure if thats the cause because it worked fine for a while with it everything else works but the disc reading issue does not allow me to play any games and FIFA 09 is about to come out and if i miss that im not going to be a happy camper called sony basically they said no receipt no help only for $150 thats not cool for a broke gamer in a messed up economy any helpful hints

My PS3 is only 6 to 9 months old...it has recently stopped playing all discs and doesn't even load.....dvd's go to blank screens, as well as blu-ray movies...most games don't load....or are not read....put COD4 in to play, blue light indicating that disc is inserted is lit....but not loading...this is very frustrating....just stopped playing out of the blue.....and to top it off, the reciept that i have for the PS3 is very faded and cannot be read...

my playstation keeps freezing after about 20 mins of playing it and it also says disc error read i don't know what to do about it does anyone have any suggestions?

I have exactly the same problem,only sony said nothing about sending me a temp system. only that they were sending a special case 2 ship mine 2 them for repair. its been 7 days,no case. my system is 5 months old

my console will not play anymore ps3 games, dvds, or blu-ray dvds....it's only 3 months old!!! Does anybody have any suggestions>

I was playing fifa08 then the sound went and the game stopped,now it won't read games or blueray dvd's any solutions???????

i was playing FIFA 08 and suddenly there was no sound so i turnened off the console then i turned it on again and now i can play very little time before it happens again or i cant play at all because of an error

I bought a used 60GB PS3 knowing that it froze during DVD's. I can play PS2 games, but movies stop about 30 mins in. Is there anything I cna do to fix this myself so I can save some $ I do not have a warrenty and not going to send it to Sony just to wait longer.

i was playing a game and then it froze. now it will not read any game. i have restored factory setting. and cleaned fans and everything else i could think of but no joy. any advise.

Okay today i was playing NBA 2k7 and my game just froze and after that i took out the game and ever since then it wont read the games

Today i was playing UNCHARTED and the game started to be a little strange cuz the ambience sound was like frozed and the characters didn't talk and then the map was cutted, then i decided to try another game for example DARK SECTOR (nice title btw) and it didn't read it.So i don't know what to do and my playstation has like 45 days and i almost don't play.

i bought my ps3 in january 08 and in the end of may, it simply stopped reading any disc, including music cds. i live in brazil and there is no official ps3 release here. what do i do?!

Well, it has only froze during Blu-Ray movies. Just watched Deja-Vu and made it 3/4 thru.....FROZE! Wont eject, wont recognize any input from remote or controller. I had to hold the power switch to shut it down! Now, no game disc, Blu-Ray or DVD/CD is recognized. Its as though the disc reading hardware just died....after only 120 days! I have only watched 11 movies and played for about 5-6 hours since I bought it! I am not very happy with the idea of Sony sending me another that was repaired after it broke, especially if since I paid the price for a new one....not a used one!

i had the same problem couple months back and i had warranty so i got it replaced for free luckily,, then bout 2 months after that its just happend again today,,, i took real care with the second 1 and its like it has been rigged to to it at a certain stage to break .. i dont no what to do now

There seems to be the highest malfunctionpercentage amongst the 40 gig PS3 owners who have used their rear powerswitch more than the regular standby. Found my receipt and will callsony tomorrow. Feel free to email me todiscuss similar settings to maybe narrow down the exact problem.

I called Sony and they said they would send a new one when I send my old one in. They want the warantee sticker, but I had to send my warantee sticker in for a rebate on some Blu-Ray disks. I hope a copy of the warantee sticker along with the receipt will be good enough.

I had the issue with 30 Days of Night BD. Half way through the disk it stopped, After that all movies disk and game will not read. So how do i re-adjusted my settings. ,

While playing COD4 the system crashed. Restarted the Console and know will not read any disks. Cannot play/watch anything. Latest update has been implemented. Any ideas as to how to fix this issue or is it a good idea to get it replaced/repaired by Sony?

Playing TeamFortress2. Screen froze - not just jitters, properly froze. Eventually powered down and up again. Now wont read any discs.

called call of duty and they said phone Sony but when you do don't say you were playing one type of game just say it happens to all of them.
otherwise Sony will put the blame on that type of game

I had the exact same problem 5 minutes ago and came online to find help - the PS3 lost sound whilst playing COD4 online then crashed and now won't read any discs at all!!!!!!!!

the same thing is happening to me whenever i try to play a game or put a movie in it doesnt read the disc. i tried to call the playstation3 support but all they gave me was a recording and made me press buttons. there selling us this so called amazing system but if you ask me there just ripping us off.well if they dont fix my station im going to sue there asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

after i plated call of duty online it froze after the match now it wont read any more disks

I was playing COD4 and suddenly th esound went off. Thought it was an online proble, but as I open the tray it seemed to take longer, then as reinserting any BD movie disk or game it does not load, not even appears the icon in the screen. I've been calling for service and just get a recording. Any tips?

What! I was playing my new PS3 (2 months old) and I get a disk read error after about one-two hours of gameplay. No games or movies play now.

same problem game freeze's and says disc error. what is going on?

disc is in but it won't recognize the game. when we put in the game it shows the disc on the upper left hand side - but nothing happens.

I am having the same problem with my PS3. It won't even recognize the disc when I put it in.
