Yamaha RXV-730 6.1 Channel A/V Receiver

the clicking may have been coming from the relay itself, but it doesn't simply mean that the relay is faulty. clicking may also be caused by transformers, indicating that some electronic components have developed SHORT CIRCUIT. try measuring resistance of transistors and diodes near the power unit (unplug/turn the unit OFF of course) check also for the impedance of the output power transformers.
check the amplifier IC for short also.

Try pushng the 6/8 channel button on your remote control. That's what fixed my problem. FYI you need to push that if you use the SACD formt in order to get the surround sound also.

Just purchased a used Onkyo TX NR906 7.1 reciever from ebay. Mint condition, looks brand new. But, will not power up. The power cord seems to be loose, moves up and down. There is only a clicking noise...

This isn't anything you can fix and it's certainly nothing that you want to pay to have fixed because it's probably going to give you more problems than it's worth. Troubleshooting implies that you made a mistake somewhere along the way. You didn't. This item is damaged and defective. This is called DOA. Contact the seller and try to get them to take it back. If the seller gives you a hard time, immediately file a dispute with eBay and PayPal and insist that the seller pick up the cost for shipping it back (That thing is like 40 - 50 pounds, right?).
For giggles, I looked up the receiver on eBay and looked for it under completed listing listings. Only one came up for $501.00. Is that the one your purchased and is that why you're so hesitant to return it because it's a $2200 receiver? Here's the thing to consider: If that is yours, in its current state, you have a $500 paper weight sold to you by a seller with a FB rating of 2. That does not bode well and the power issue is probably not the only issue. If it were me, I'd say forget it. But hey, if you think it's worth having someone take a look then by all means.
Regardless, even if that's not yours, I think it's safe to say that getting an item that expensive on eBay that is DOA is pretty much cause to return it without hesitation.

You either have a cold solder joint in your horizontal deflection circuits or your or in your horizontal output circuit. please be careful due to the fly-back transformer still holds power even unplugged until you discharge it.( ground it out). Hope this helps.

My garage door is not opening, when I press the button on the remote all it does is make a clicking noise, any suggestions?

The click you hear is a sure sign the receiver is working and that you have power to the unit. I would pull the logic board and look for burnt or missing traces on the printed circuit board. There is a small transformer on that board and you should make sure the solder connections to it are secure.

The clicking noise is the protection circuit., sounds like you have a grounded speaker wire, but you say the speakers are not connected so the amp may be toast. Is there any smell of burnt wires? This is ussuallt noticable near the circuit board if something failed!
