If you have installed the software from the CD-ROM that HP supplied along with the printer, then the HP Utility should have been installed.

Click the Windows "Start" button.
Click "All Programs".
Click "Hewlett Packard" (or click "HP").
Is one of the items the HP Utility,
which is used to "align print heads", or "check ink levels" ?

As for Windows Cleaner, I never use such programs.

Computer runs slow, becomes unresponsive or just freezes or crashes, unable to free up hard drive even with defrag. Unable to access the web sites as thought the keys are not sending the commands at times.

Sounds like you need some house cleaning. Try freeware programs, CCLEANER: http://filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ clean the junk using the cleaner, then use the Registry cleaner to remove the junk from the registry, delete all. In the TOOLS section, select STARTUP, disable ALL unnecessary startup programs. Select Internet Explorer, disable ALL toolbars and unnecessary add-ons. Use MALWAREBYTES freeware to scan your laptop: http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/ In the install UNCHECK the Free Trial Pro, you want the freeware version. Run a Full scan, delete ALL results, reboot. Run a full scan with your up-to-date Anti Virus software. With the specs you have on the HP there is no reason for this, other than to many thing are running (services) and possibly malware, toolbars, virus, etc. Take a look at this: http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/10things/10-ways-to-speed-up-windows-7/3332

Tip

2 portable registry cleaners

Hi there and welcome at Fixya, the support team tip (lfete)

I will review 2 portable programs I use to clean computers:
  • Glary Utilities
  • Wise Registry Cleaner

Glary Utilities
At first I thought Glary Utilities is the same as Ccleaner, but after studying the suggestions of Glary Utilities, in terms of cleaning the registry, I could see that Glary Utilities finds different errors than CCleaner but is also safe to use. Because Glary Utilties is portable it was easy to test it on other machines without leaving any trace on the computer that the program has been there, and that is a thing I like very much. Remember, you do not want to spend time to install and then uninstall a registry cleaner.

Wise Registry Cleaner

Initially I used the installer version, not portable verison, of Wise Registry Cleaner, because at the time I did not know there is a portable version of Wise Registry Cleaner. However I am glad I used Wise Registry Cleaner, even though I had to install it, because it found around 400 entries to delete (safely) the first time I ran it, and it had a good explanation for what each entry is, what it is for, and what category it belongs to. If you do not know many things about registry try to scan your computer with this software, highlight individual entries, and see on the bottom of the window what it is for a file and why you can delete it; this way you can learn a lot about registry and registry cleaners. Of course if you scanned your computer for learning purposes only, you can always choose to not delete anything, closing the program after you read all the info. With Wise Registry Cleaner, only the registry entries which are "safe" to delete are checked for deleting by default; however you can always manually check the other entries there are a lot of possibilities here if you want to go further.

I use these programs I just mentioned to clean my computer and others. One of the biggest reasons I find them all so useful is all three have portable versions so you can have them on a USB stick and clean computer after computer without having to install anything. The other main reason I have used these to is because I havent had any problems after cleaning computers with them if I use the safe/default mode of course.
You can use them separately or together. Together they clean better, because in one way or another they each find different errors on the computer as they search in different ways.
Personally, I categorize them in the following 2 steps:

  1. Middle phase cleaning - Glary Utilities (at default settings)
  2. Deep cleaning - Wise Registry Cleaner (delete the safe ones (they are marked safe) registry files)

You can download the programs from the following links:

I purchased a copy of fix-it 10 professional and have not been able to get my computer to download the program. It keeps telling me that I have to locate fix-it 8, remove it before I can download the...

Boot in safe mode, search the entire hard disk for Avanquest or Fix-it files and folders and manually delete them. Then boot normally and remove the Fix-it 8 entry from the Add/Remove Programs list using this
http://www.gaijin.at/en/dluic.php
Finally run a good registry cleaner like
http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm
After that you will be able to install your new program.

Uninstalling problem of antivirus software

First.. install a different antivirus program while you are fixing this installation. Try microsoft security essentials or AVG.
Then.
Check your program files folder for any mention of Avast, and delete it.
Run a search for avast and delete anything you find.
Download a registry cleaner, I use CC Cleaner.
Run the cleaner and remove all the files it finds, run the registry cleaner and let it delete all the problems it finds .
IF you want to try with avast again, uninstall the other antivirus program you may have installed. then try with the Avast again

How do I uninstall SSC Utility from Windows Vista Machine, It does not show up in Uninstall programs. Try to delete folder and says I need permission and am unable to grant it

The easiest way would be to just boot from a Linux live-cd and wipe the folder from there. After that just reboot in Windows and run a registry cleaner to wipe off the leftovers.

Please help me either fix yahoo messenger or tell me how to get rid of it completely i tried to uninstall it it wont let me

if you cant remove it from add remove programs, you can try to use window installer cleanup utility. you can download it from this website : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 . if it doesnt work you can use CCleaner and download it from this website : http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ . to run windows installer clean up utility, after you have successfully installed it on your computer, it should show up on all programs after clicking start button. now you cna look for yahoo mesenger and click delete. if you want to use ccleaner here is a screenshot of the tools window, http://www.ccleaner.com/screenshots/tools-uninstaller
look for yahoo messenger and click delete entry. after using ccleaner, restart the computer and uninstall it as well using add remove programs. you can also uninstall yahoo messenger following this path: my computer/local disk c/program files/yahoo/ and then delete the folder that say messenger.
