How do I fit extra memory in my acer aspire z series

If there is no Random Access Memory (RAM) compartment cover on the rear or underside of this computer, then, as is common with All-In-One (AIO) computers, a degree of disassembly is required in order to access the RAM Module slots internally.
If so, unless you are experienced at the disassembly and internal repair or mopdification of AIOs, Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) or Light Emitting Diode (LED) Personal Computer (PC) Monitors and LCD or LED Televisions (TVs), my advice would be to take this computer in to have the RAM upgrade performed by an authorized Acer Service Center.
The internal areas of AIOs, LCD, LED PC Monitors and LCD or LED TVs are u highly unsafe and inexperienced user-unfriendly working environments because such devices contain Electrolytic Capacitors (e-caps) that are storage devices capable of storing dangerous and even lethal charges, even when the device is completely disconnected from the mains electricity. Some capacitors can store charges as high as several tens of thousands of volts.

The aim would be to remove the back panel.

Often (but not always) with AIOs, LCD, LED PC Monitors and LCD or LED TVs, the key to removing the back cover lies in first unscrewing and removing the stand.

Look out for hidden screws, particularly deep-set screws, some of which might even be completely obscured by a warranty sticker or other label, meaning that upgrading the RAM in this computer within its warranty period might invalidate the warranty unless the upgrade is performed by an authorized Acer Service Center.

When the rear cover is removed (some additional internal panels might need to also be unscrewed/unclipped and removed), you should have access to the four RAM Module slots. Two slots should be free and the remaining two occupied, each containing a single (2048 Megabytes) otherwise referred to as 2 Gigabyte (Gb) RAM Module, because the standard RAM specification of this computer is 4Gb. The maximum specified RAM for this computer is 8Gb, meaning that either one or two 2Gb Modules can be added during a RAM upgrade.

The specifications of the RAM Modules for this computer are:

240 Pin 1.8v DDR3 PC3-1066 Non-ECC Dimm (240 contact elements, 1.8 volt, 1066 GigaHertz Oscillation Cycle Clock Speed, 3rd Generation Double Data Rate, Non Error Checking and Correction, Dual Inline Memory Module).

Upgrade ram

In order to upgrade the ram of your desktop. First you have to check the ram specifications. If wrong specifications the desktop will not work. To check you have to remove the ram from your desktop by removing the screws behind your desktop. Open the lid and you will see the contents of your desktop. Besides of your processor, there is ram installed. Unclip it. Then bring that ram to the computer shops. Purchase a ram higher than the ram installed in your desktop. Afterwards, install the new ram to your desktop. Good luck.

I have a acer aspire t180 gb7z pc and i would like to know what is the maximum ram speed i can upgrade to

You have 4 slots, capable of handling 4GB of memory but CAUTION: most machines come installed with 32 bit Windows OS. To maximize memory you must have 64 bit Windows OS. With 32 bit system, its probable that 1GB will be all your machine will handle.

How to upgrade acer aspire m1100 ram

It is actually pretty simple, just remove either screws or fasteners holding the case on. On that model it may even just be the side panel, which would be 2 screws/fasteners. Here is a video that explains the process. Thanks,

I'm trying to upgrade the memory on my acer aspire 5315. I've removed the 4 screws from the large cover but the cover won't come up easily and i'm afraid to force it.

whao... NEVER force something like that ESPECIALLY around the memory... you know you're supposed to be grounded before touching the RAM, right?... touch the case of a computer (on like the power supply) just before you work on it and as long as the computer was grounded... and turned on... you'll be grounded too... stay off the carpet at this point... try to do it in like a kitchen or something... or you can ruin the RAM... try sliding the cover in all different directions... you may just have to get Acer tech support on the line... I've upgraded Laptop Ram before, but laptops are different... try looking it up on the web... for a manual... I had to use one for an HP...

Acer l100 memory upgrade

I just attempted this, and I must say that there are many things about the other solutions that just plain wrong. Here is my step-by-step:
  1. Choose your RAM. Use the memory advisor from Crucial to tell you which ram to use: I used their PC 5300 2*1GB kit. You can RAM from any retailer, as long as it is the same type recommended by the memory advisor.
  2. Lay the case flat and remove the screw in the middle of the top plate at the back, then slide the top plate off. You will probably have to break the warranty seal to do this.
  3. There are three black clips that hold the front bezel onto the top section. Prise them upwards and the bezel will come away.
  4. There is a black screw on the motherboard near the back, holding down a piece of metal attached to the top section (drive bays). Remove this screw, then pull gently on the plastic handle on the top section to loosen it.
  5. Lift the top section so that you can pull the power and IDE cables from the hard drive at the back, then lift it fully upwards. Be careful of the ribbon cable underneath, you may need someone to hold it up for you while you change the RAM.
  6. To remove the old RAM, do not simply prise it upwards as someone else said. The RAM slot has a metal clip at each side; push these outwards to the sides until they click. This releases the RAM so that they can be lifted out.
  7. Slide the new RAM into the bays and push it down to lock it into place. Make sure both sides click properly.
  8. Reassemble the case in reverse order, taking care to get everything stowed away in the right place. Take care remounting the front bezel to make it is properly in place before clicking the tabs back on top.
Hope someone finds this useful. By the way, while i can in there I noticed an empty expansion bay: anybody know what this is?
