Replaced the resistor!
But are you sure the resistor is bad? You can use any ohm meter to test it.

How to determine a good or bad resistor?

Hello,

First of all you need to know the resistor value and tolerance. This can be found here:

http://www.csgnetwork.com/resistcolcalc.html

Secondly, with most resistors you would need to de-solder one end of the resistor.

Finally, you measure the resistor with a mutimeter set on the Ohms setting.

If you are lucky enough to access a Huntron Tracker, you can get a good idea without de-soldering one end.

There are many good videos on youtube that may be of help. Here is just one:

Good luck. Thanks for using Fixya.

Load Resistor Testing for 4400CL and 4600CL Steppers

This video covers troubleshooting of the load resistor on the Stairmaster 4400CL and 4600CL Steppers.Tools Needed: Multi Meter

The load resistor is cylindrical in shape and has metal fins encased in the ceramic coating around the outside. The job of the load resistor is to take the extra electricity from the alternator and dissipate it as heat. Symptoms that one may experience when the load resistor fails are alternating resistance in the pedals or no resistance in the pedals. Alternating resistance can occur as the load resistor heats or cools causing the resistance to come and go. If the load resistor is really bad, there can be no resistance in the pedals.

You can test the load resistor by first following the wires from the load resistor to the lower control board.

Next, carefully disconnect the load resistor wires from the lower control board. Be careful not to damage the connector on the lower control board or the load resistor wires.

Set your volt meter to the setting larger than and closest to 2.5 ohms. Insert each lead from your volt meter into the pins of in the wire connector of the load resistor.

Look for a reading of 2.5 ohms (+/- 10%). If your reading is outside the range, the load resistor should be replaced.

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Htr/AC fan switch only functions @ highest speed. At lower speed settings I can hear doors opening and closing---but not air.

replace the blower motor resistor. It controls the fan speeds. It defaults to high speed only when it fails.

How to replace the blower motor resistor block: Caution: Stay clear of the blower motor and resistor block (Hot). Do not operate the blower motor with the resistor block removed. 1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the glove box from the instrument panel.
3. Pull out the lock on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector to unlock the connector latch.
4. Depress the latch on the blower motor resistor wire harness connector and disconnect the connector from the resistor.
5. Remove the two screws that secure the blower motor resistor block to the HVAC housing.
6. Remove the resistor block from the HVAC housing. Installation:
1. Position the blower motor resistor block into the HVAC housing.
2. Install the two screws that secure the resistor block to the HVAC housing. Tighten the screws to 2.2 Nm (20 in. lbs.)
3. Connect the wire harness connector to the resistor block.
4. Push in the lock on the blower motor resistor wire harness connecgtor to lock the connector latch.
5. Install the glove box.
6. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
7. Have a nice day!

Need Bissel 1715 wiring schematic. Charging circuit has burnt resistor. Need to know resistor details.

Can not believe NO ONE could answer this.

The R1 resistor basically drops the 9V to around 5V for charging the battery pack. The resistor is a 10 ohm , 2 watt resistor. The other resistor is 220 ohm. This only limits the current to the LED.

The 10 ohm resistor burnt because the battery pack was left to sit too long without use and charging. So the cells shorted causing excessive current through the resistor when you attempted to charge the batteries.

After replacing the resistor, you will need to replace the battery pack before charging. Otherwise, you'll just burn the resistor again.

Resistor vs non-resistor spark plugs

resistor spark plugs make zero diff in the way the engine runs, they supress radio noise only, this electrical noise can interfere with the cars radio and other electronics.

it's very difficult to give the exact value of that resistor.,but i can give some tips to find the value of the said resistor .( find how the resistor works, it is a dropping or fusable? if fusable used .47 or 1 ohm resistor if it is a dropping resistor you should make a trial and error .from 100k,10k or 1k.

Durango vent blower fan

The blower motor resistors are known for going bad. Usually its because the blower starts drawing too much current. What I would recommend doing if you can and have the tools, is to check the blower motor connector to make sure 12 volts is present. If so than I would recommend replacing the blower motor resistor. Then if the same issue ever happens again and the blower motor resistor is bad again, you will need to replace the blower motor and the blower resistor as the final repair.
Here is some info about testing the resistor using a multimeter it you have one:

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING- BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR WARNING: ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
Both the front blower motor resistor and the optional rear heater-A/C unit blower motor resistor can be diagnosed using the procedure that follows. For circuit descriptions and diagrams, refer to Air Conditioning/Heater in Group 8W - Wiring Diagrams.
  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Disconnect the wire harness connector from the blower motor resistor block.
  3. Check for continuity between each of the blower motor switch input terminals of the resistor and the resistor output terminal. In each case there should be continuity. If OK, repair the wire harness circuits between the blower motor switch and the blower motor resistor block or blower motor as required. If not OK, replace the faulty blower motor resistor block.
Here is the information on replacing the resistor:

REMOVAL
  1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  2. From the passenger foot well area, remove the two hex screws used to secure the blower motor resistor.
  3. Unplug the front blower motor resistor from the wire harness connector.
  4. Remove the front blower motor resistor from the HVAC unit.
Here is an exploded view of the HVAC box. The resistor is #63 in the picture and the actual part may appear slightly different:

If any issues such as no voltage at blower connector or damaged or melted connector at the resistor then let me know.

sounds like the convergence ICs and resistors due to the double image. You need two convergence ICs both STK392-110 ICs and the following six resistors. (2) 3.3 ohms 1watt resistors, (2) 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors. (1) 1.8 ohm 1watt resistors. (1) 3.9 ohm1watt resistor. You can get replacemnet ICs and resistors at the following link and they provide free instalation instructions so you can do the repair yourself. Heres the link.

CT-27SX11E Fixed but need advice on R value

i would not recomend replacing the 7w with the 5w, beacuse the resistor will allways run hot, hotter then the resistor should be. the resistor could possible melt anything that touches it & will not last as long as the original before it goes bad. find a 7w, if just for safty reasons.
