Question about Apple iPod touch
First of all, don;t smack it anymore... You should try hooking it up to the computer and see if you can go in through the USB connection and get it to turn on..it may be a problem with the screen settings.. if not contact apple tech support..

Tips for a great answer:
Jul 31, 2013 | Apple iPod touch
This is actually really easy to do.
This called a hard reboot.
All you have to do is hold the home button and the power button down at the same time for 30 to 40 seconds or until you get a Apple sign on your screen.
This will reboot your ipod.
If this does not work there is one other thing you can try to do.
Hook your ipod touch up to your computer that you use itunes on.
Itunes will detect a problem with your ipod.
You can try a restore of your ipod from your computer.
If this does not work its time to return or send your ipod back to apple so they can repair it.
hope this helps
