Question about Bissell 3590 CleanView Bagless Upright Vacuum

1 Answer

Arrgh! I have an upright Bissell vacuum. Everytime I use it, it smells like a cloud of dust. I have made sure countless times that all the filters are clean and the hoses are intact, so I don't know what the problem is. Is this problem normal? Or am I somehow blowing dust everywhere? Any insight it much appreciated, thanks!!

Throws dust all over. Missing hepa filter. Is that the problem?

Of course. The filter is there for a reason and it also maintains pressure. But also make sure that the seals to the container are good and that it is located correctly.

Constant blockages

It could be a clog or obstruction somewhere restricting the airflow. If you can't find a restriction the problem could be the filters are now allowing adequate airflow. Filters should be cleaned frequently and replaced at least once per year for proper cleaning.

Bissell carpet cleaner does not suction

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris.
Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it.
Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum.

My Bissell bagless vacuum does not seem to work anymore. It will start to with a suction and then instead of picking up the dirt, it appears to blow the dirt out almost in a cloud of dust and debris from...

this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.

Either your hose is plugged, or the inlet by the brush roll is plugged. Another problem that can cause this is the the filters are clogged or may just need to be replaced. Most of these has a filter in the dust catch bucket, and also above the bucket. Make sure all filters are clean.
