Check your indoor air filter. When the unit is in heat pump mode the indoor unit is cooling the air, ie. removing the heat from the unit. If the air flow is restricted then the unit will run high head pressure. If the filter is clean then maybe something else is restricting the air flow of the indoor unit. The other possiblity is that the unit is over charged. When in cooling the overcharge will not create the problems that it will in heating mode. The only proper way to charge a heatpump is to remove ALL the refrigerant and then wiegh in the proper amount of refrigerant into the system.

High head pressure on high side, & very low pressure on suction line while heat pump is in heating mode? What is the cause ??

First you need to know that manifold gauges are supposed to be reversed in heat pumps during heating cycle checks. The causes of high pressure are 1. Dirty filters, 2. Dirty coils, 3. overcharged system, 4. obstruction in coolant lines.

Condencer runs for 20 sec then off keeps repeting after 2 or 3 min goodman central system

Seems like it trying to start and then cuts out , possibly on overload. Try the machine on fan blow only , that will check the indoor unit to see if that is working. Then try cool or heat function while listening to the machine starting. If you hear a loud humming just as the fan starts, and then it cuts out, It could be a compressor issue. Possibly the start capacitor has failed.

Trouble shoot Dayton gas furnace model GG9S100C16MP11A fan is left on constant but in cold weather 10 or colder fan will go off and furnace will go thru a restart mode and run fine for awhile then will do...

Do not run contentiously during heat mode. the fan runs at a slower speed with heat and heat fires first then the fan cycles on during heat cycle then when heat satisfies the thermostat the heat will cycle off and fan will run for a couple more minutes and then cycle off. So set stat on fan cycle to auto.

Senville mini split displays a "defrost" symbol????

It's a heat pump and that is how they work. But it shouldn't be cycling so much unless you live in Minnesota? The colder it is outside the more chance that the outside coil will freeze so it will go into defrost. It may be low on charge or have leak as well. Call a tech to verify.

Heat pump problems

Some heat pumps have high and low pressure swiches installed to keep compressor from running when unsafe conditions occur that can damage the compressor. If the outside fan is not turing on, the unit is cycling on high pressure, if you see ice forming on the big refrigerant line coming from the air handler, then the compressor is shutting down on low pressure. Low pressure can be cause by lack of air flow through air handler or from a low refrigerant charge.

I have a gulf stream pool heat pump. It tries to start and runs for a few seconds then shuts down. it will do this like 3 times then stops. will repeat about every 10 minutes. was working find 2 days...

Hi, sounds as though you may have several problems, or I should say there are several things that will cause a unit to short cycle and then shut down. First of all, the head pressure in the system if it is getting to high, will cause this unit to shut off on its high pressure switch. When it shuts off the pressure will drop and the switch will reset on auto and start again just to do the same again. Shut the power off to this unit. Take a water hose and give the coil that surrounds the condenser a good washing out. Be careful not to bend the fins down on it as this will prevent air from being released to the outside air. Use a nozzle and adjust it as needed. If the problem was a head pressure problem, this will stop it from short cycling. If I were on site with my manifold gauges, I would no right away if it was a head pressure problem. After doing this, if it starts to do the same thing again, being low on freon will also cause a system to short cycle. If it was fine 2 days ago, I doubt if it is low on charge. Make sure the outdoor fan is up and running as this will cause it to go off on high pressure cut-out. This does sound like your problem. What happens is the coil gets dirty over time and the air can't be removed properly. The compressor will start and the pressures will rise very fast and shut of with in a few seconds. After a few attempts to run, the compressor will lock out on internal overload until it cools off and resets its self. It may take 5 to 30 minutes for it to start and try again. Do the cleaning process I have asked not getting water directly into the electrical control panel, but give this coil a good washing. If this system has a return air filter somewhere, make sure it is clean. Do this and get back to me and let me no if this solved or helped at all. If not, we can go from there. Just look me up with my user name. I do believe its just a plugged condenser coil. The symptoms are as you describe to me. Please get back to me.
I hope the best to you,

AC draws more current in hot mode

If this is aheat pump or reverse cycle unit that amps in heating is to high. Should not go over nameplate amps in heat or cool. Sounds like maybe two things. Overcharge and stopped up coil on the inside air handler. The reason for the high amps is in heat the head pressure is higher than normal. So check the coil inside and have the charge checked because that compressor wont run long pulling that much amps over nameplate. Keep in touvh Rus.

Expansion valve on the condensor or possibly overcharged with refrigerant?

Digital read out....fault high ref pressure.

Verify circulating pump is on and that there are no water flow restrictions to the heat pump. Make sure all necessary valves are open or in the proper positions to allow proper water flow to the heat pump. Verify filter and skimmers are clean. Check for water level in the pool. This condition may also appear if the heat pump has not been operated for an extended period. To clear the condition, cycle the heat pump, on and off, up to 3 times. If this does not correct the problem, call for service.

Compressor will not start.

Usually short cycling means that High side pressure is getting to high (due to not working condenser fan, or dirty condenser coil), or low side pressure is getting too low (might have low level of freon or restriction in sealed system). low side would drop dramatically if indoor blower is not running, so if air is not circulating thru evaporator coil, coil will freeze up and low side would be much lower then normal. Here is video how I found issue with package AC not coming on. Thermostat call for cool, but condenser would not come on, indoor blower runs ok.
