Do you have a blinking curser. If you do then your os is corrupted.Try removing the battery and the memory.Press and hold the power button down for twenty seconds.Replace the both and try to start it again.

Faulty Nvidia CHip...

You first need to see if you are listed on the HP Extended Service Warranty Service List...

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01087277&lc=en&cc=us

If Not....

You will Need To Reflow The Graphics Chip... It is the process of Reflowing The Solder From the Connection Balls on the Underside of the Graphics Chip Back Down To The Motherboards Contact Pads...

The Graphics chip needs to be weighted down, You can use 8 Quarters.. You must insulate all parts on the board, Cover the CPU, Cover The RAM Slots, Cover Any Plastic Ports/Connectors...

Use A Heat Gun Set On Low.....

Hold 6 Inches From The Quarter Stack and Rotate around the Quarters Slowly Moving Closer And Pulling Back... THis Process Will Take Roughly 3 minutes... You Want to Heat It Hot Enough To Melt The Solder On The Underside Of The Graphics Chip, But DO NOT OVERHEAT... If Overheated, You Will Lose The Connection Forever and Render The Motherboard Useless.....

Other Option Is To Replace Your Motherboard.... Due To THe Fact That Your Video/GPU is integrated...

Acer 1912 stays dark

By that description sounds it sounds like you need a new monitor. Otherwise I would say if it was just a black screen to reset your CMOS by removing the side panel of your computer, locate the round battery and near the battery is a 3 pin 1 jumper setup most likely jumper on 1,2 but can be 2,3. Which ever the case, unplug the power cord, remove the jump from 1,2 and move it to 2,3 or vice versa remove from 2,3 and move to 2,1 for 1 minute then remove and replace in default position. Plug the power back and and start it up. As I said, wouldn't go through the trouble because your monitor sounds broken.

My screen is darker then it was when i fist got it .

Apparently you can see something, as you were able to install a screen saver. In this case, go into the control panel and check the "power options" to see if by chance the screen is set to go to black in 5 minutes. If so, change the value.
If this is not the problem and you can't brighten the screen with the screen controls, try an external monitor to see if the video is OK.
If it is, then you are looking at the power supply or the flourescent bulb in the monitor being bad.

Replaced screen computer comes on, but screen stays black.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

How long have you had your computer? Mine has been doing this. The battery has died out over time, and now I think the adapter is too. It's kind of kinked near where it plugs into the computer (probably from the weight of the chord constantly being pulled down). It just gets a bad connection, a little less power, and goes dim like that. If I readjust the connection and turn off/turn back on the computer, it usually comes on bright again. But I ordered a new battery
