you can replace the lid switch. Go to searspartsdirect.com and put in your model #. it will pull up part #s and diagrams. You will probably have to take the cab off, which can be tricky. first unscrew the backguard and flip it back. You should be able to tip the cab forward now. The lidswitch will be attached to the cab, and there will be a plug attached to the backguard.
