Question about Kenmore Dryers

Open Question

The dryer is leaving small, shiny particles on all clothes

The dryer is leaving small, shiny particles on all our clothes. It looks like insulation. I regularly clean out the lint trap. What is it and is it a serious problem?

It is the paint or coating that is coming off. If you don't mind your cloths being spotted it can't be a problem.

SOURCE: LG Tromm dryer now takes two cycles to dry a load

Rob, sounds like you're on the right track. The other things that could be bad is part of the heater coil is out or, less likely, that you have thermostat or high limit switch issues. These will likely require a service person to resolve. Good luck, sir.

SOURCE: dryer doesn't dry clothes thoroughly

Turn off your breakers, then back on to insure a good reset. Then check the wiring from the receptacle, to the plug and then to the back of the dryer. You are getting some heat which tells me that one leg of power is out. I don't think it is your element, because you get some heat. Let me know how you do.

Model 41798702891 Kenmore stacked washer/dryer is collecting lint inside the door and putting lint onto the clothes.

I am not much of an expert with dryers but i'll give it a stab. Should there be a filter that catches the lint so that it does not go all over the clothes? Have you got the manual. If not, see if you can find the manual online and see if there is anything mentioned about a lint filter.

I have a burning smell in my dryer. it heats up and runs but the clothes have a burnt smell

Do not switch on the dyer unless this is checked out as the fault seems related to the coil heating some insulation or foreign particles when it is switched ON.
Sometimes this can be due to wires buring after coming into contact with the heater, the insulation being burnt out.
Also if the connection leads on the heater is bad then the JOINTS might heat more and thus burn the wires or any other materials that come in touch.
An inspection / with a good obserrvation lamp is most important. You can also start by observing the leads on the heaters.

When i switch on my ps3 there is a ribbon effect and what looks like small minute particles moving about it

The ribbon effect and shiny particles are your home screen. Give it time to load and do it's own thing and you should be good to go. If you do not get menu options in a short period of time, return it to where you got it and pick up one that is not causing problems.

I just got a malber 1000 washer/dryer. Can it be used as a dryer only?

NO THIS UNIT USES CONDENSED DRYING AND WILL WET THE CLOTHES BEFORE IT EVEN TURNS ON THE HEATER. BASICALLY YOUR COMBO USES STEAM CIRCULATION THRU YOUR CLOTHES. AS THE SMALL WATER PARTICLES IN THE STEAM MOVE THRU YOUR CLOTHES IT COMBINES WITH SMALL WATER PARTICALS IN THE CLOTHES(THINK OF 2 WATER DROPS COMBINING ON YOUR WINDSHEILD AND HOW THEY ABSORB TOGETHER) WHICH RISE TO THE TOP OF THE TUB AND COLLECT INTO WATER AGAIN. THEY THEN ROLL DOWN THE SIDES OF THE TUB AND COLLECT AGAIN AT THE BOTTOM TO BE PUMPED OUT. BEFORE THIS PROCESS EVEN STARTS THE UNIT WILL ACTUALLY ADD WATER TO GENERATE THE STEAM. MOST PEOPLE FIND THAT IF THEY WANT TO JUST FRESHEN UP SOMETHING, IT WILL END UP DRENCHING WET IN THE FIRST FEW MINUTES.

Washer leaves a film of what looks like paper/lint even after drying. Small particles which are difficult to remove

Try running the washer with no clothes in it with a little detergent. Maybe even twice. Then try it with clothes again. It is possible a tissue or something was in a pocket or something that got "washed" and not all of it got flushed out of the machine yet. There isn't anything like that in the machine to cause that. If this helps, please rate my answer. Thank you.

I have a Kenmore Elite HE4 gas dryer. It works fine, but leaves small streaky marks (looks like grease?) on some of my clothes - usually silkier, light colored clothing. I have searched the inside of the...

The clothes are getting pinched between the drum and the housing. Check the gasket(s) where the drum turns on the housing at the front and back. If the gasket is worn there is a small gap that clothes can get pulled into. The marks are from the worn metal. Lighter weight clothes are more likely to get caught. The gaskets can be replaced by removing the drum.

Brown marks on my light coloured clothes

I just noticed My Frigidaire doing the same thing. Using a lightly soapy damp cloth, I cleaned the interior, paying particular attention to the small gap between the drum and the housing. I also took apart the lint pre-filter and screen and cleaned them. There was a filmy build up of the same colored substance. I suspect that dryer sheets are leaving a waxy residue that over time is sufficient enough to rub off on lighter colored, primarily synthetic, fabrics.

Parts of clothes get stuck in edge of dryer...seems to burn them.

I have had this same problem with my stack-able dryer. It was leaving small burns on my kids clothes and my good sheets. My dryer has a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer can get caught and scorched or torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. My seal was worn out, so I needed to replace it. I had someone come in and do the work the first time but when it wore out again I just order the part and replaced it myself. It is fixable:)
