I recommend you check all your air vents for dust buildup. Use an old toothbrush to brush the dust away from the vent holes and blow air through the vents using one of those compressed air cans made for cleaning keyboards. Many laptops have more than one vent. Look carefully to find them all. One time I had to take a Sony laptop apart to remove all the dust buildup. However, most of the time cleaning the vents from the outside works. After you've cleaned the vents If you still think you have an overheating problem I recommend downloading a free piece of software named FanSpeed. Here's a link. http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/SpeedFan.shtml I'll let you read the description for yourself, but in short it allows you to monitor the temperature inside your computer and to adjust how the fans react to this temperature. I hope this helps you out.

Very Very Carefully disassemble the laptop, and clean out the processor fan, and any other "vent" looking things. Lots of times hair (especially pet), dust and other pollutants will clog these, or they may stop working all together, and need replaced.

How can I stop auto shut down?

Do you block the air flow in any way? I use a metal laptop stand that I can elevate the back of the laptop. The surface the lap top rests on is wire mesh so there is no reduction in airflow. Never had a problem with it.

Whirlpool dryer doesnt heat, time and shut off when you open the door

if you have it on time dry and it doesn't count down the timer is bad but it should stop when you open the door unless you have a broken door switch too, just open the door and push in on the switch with your finger,it should make a clicking sound,if not the door switch is also broke,if you have the timer on auto or more or less then it won't move without heat.on auto the heat comes on when the dryer reaches temp. the heat shuts off and the timer will advance a little, then the heat starts again and the timer stops,it will do this until the clothes are dry by using a sensor instead of time.

While browsing net r watching movies my lap(acer extensa 4630)shut down itself

The processor has to perform large amount of work while surfing , especially while usingvideos and animationMultiple windows/tabsnumber of browserwhich in turn produces lot of heat . The heat produced is managed by the interneal heat sink and inbuilt cooling fans. But this cooling process may get affected by the blockage in air vents due to dust.So to safeguard the laptop form overheat, it automatically shuts down.
One simple try :Go to the Adobe flash properties and disable Hardware acceleration for online content. That ought to stop the system from rebooting or crashing.

Else...Its better to call a technician when it shuts down often.....

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

I have a Rowenta Pro. Iron, model DE-86.1A with auto shut-off. It sticks on auto shut-off. I have to move it around for it to heat up, as indicated by the sensor light on the top.

I believe that is how the safety feature works.

Once the iron detects no movement for a certain period of time (the iron assumes you have finished ironing) the iron will shut of the heating element.

One you have moved it around, the timer should prevent it from auto shutting down for a period of time.

JVC HD DILA 56G886. replaced lamp and now it shuts down after 10

we found that it is an auto shut off system on the TV due to over heating. The lamp, if not cooled correctly shuts down. We added a mini fan in the back and it seems to work fine now.

the fan and heatsink may need cleaning as it could be shutting down due to heat (thermal) issues.
