How to change graphic card?

firstly you need to determine if it does have a dedicated graphics card or if the graphics are on-board, as in the case of the latter you cannot change the graphics card and this means it could require a new motherboard or processor (in the case where graphics may be integrated into the processor) or both and even if it does have dedicated graphics card they are not easy to find replacements for, and will require taking the laptop apart, there are places you can send them to be repaired in a lab and this is probably your best option if it is actually broke, if you were hoping to just upgrade your existing card then it is highly unlikely you will find one that fits as even dedicated cards are not universal and specific to the make and model of the laptop itself, in rare cases where upgrade options were available for the laptop when new you may find one with much searching, but as a general rule of thumb if a laptops graphics goes kaput then it is usually time to throw it away and buy a new one, or if this is not an option then sending it away to a lab to have the components replaced is generally the only option, i have in the past found people offering this service on ebay, hope this helps

I want to swap my graphic card from a hp to a emachine

If you give me the model of the hp, the e-machine and the graphics card I could tell if it will work.
There are three types of cards ranked from slow/oldest to fast/new
  • PCI
  • AGP (dedicated graphics)
  • PCIe (16x slots are for graphics cards)

Almost everyone computer for the last 10 or so years will have PCI slots, usually only one no a days
AGP was a dedicated slot for graphics cards also outdated and anything newer than 2004-5 will probably not have one.
PCIe came out in 2004 and replaced AGP.

Amd graphics drivers

If you mean for the on-board / built in graphics then it should be available on the motherboard manufactures website in the support section.

If you need the graphics driver for a dedicated graphics card that was installed on to the motherboard then you need to know the make and model of the card and check the manufactures website.

Video card acer am1100-b1410a

Since most modern motherboards with on-board graphics are designed to switch automatically to a PCI / PCIE add-on card, you have already sort of answered your question. In many of theses situations, if the motherboard's on-board video has failed and it has not provided you any indication that it knows the video has failed (POST codes), then it will most likely not know that you have installed the add-on card and make the switch.

HP intel dc5100 Intel Video Driver required windows seven

Hi

The motherboard in this PC does not seem to support Windows 7.

See here for confirmation:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=447280&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=454811&prodTypeId=12454

Since windows 7 has a large database of drivers built-in, most of the devices on the motherboard may have found compatible drivers in the Win 7 Driver Database, with the exception the on-board graphics.

The best option is to upgrade to a dedicated Windows 7 compatible PCI Express graphics card, which you can easily install to bypass the on-board graphics.

A dedicated graphics card will also free up system memory previously borrowed by the on-board graphics.

Hope this helps.

Installing Graphics cd in AGP slot...

Usually you need to disable the on-board video/activate the AGP slot in the BIOS before adding the video card. (Check your manual for entering the BIOS - often hit F1 or F2 (or enter when prompted) as you start the computer before the OS starts loading.)

I have no idea how you see the BIOS information without a working video to start.

Install new dedicated graphics card - Aspire 5738?

No, It's not. As with most low end laptops it is not possible to upgrade the graphics card. Which is a good thing, as most high end cards make the user believe that a laptop is designed for gaming, and they never are. Gaming kills laptops.

Monitor flashes

possibly the default refresh rate / resolution is causing it ?

Also have you tried decreasing hardware acceleration and do both computers have onboard graphics cards or are they dedicated ones.

onboard graphics cards are ones that are built into the motherboard and dedicated ones are a seperate card.

onboard graphics card image

VGA connector being at the bottom left in blue with aprox 15 pins.

Dedicated graphics card

Dedicated graphics cards have a few different connection types ie PCI, PCI EXPRESS , AGP 4 speed and 8 speed but all are a physical card that you have to insert / install into the computer.

I would also try and degaus the monitor ( refer to the manual - generally a button or buttons that you press and release that should help )

If not then its the monitor at fault and you need a new one.

Lagging bad on internet low FPS rate

Lag problems wont be anything to do with your monitor, more driver problems or an incompatibility with your new card. Try getting up to date drivers and contact their tech support (the graphics card) and give them your system spec. They will advise if the card is not compatible. This is not about the Windows version, but more about your RAM/HARD Drive speeds.

Also, if your PC had, prior to this install an on-board graphics chip then this can cause problems such as this which cannot often be fixed - try ensuring the onboard graphics is switched off on the BIOS if you can.
