Question about Ricoh Aficio 2232C Color Copier

I have received an error message on my Ricoh Aficio 2232C, functional problem within the copier ERROR SC542 which appears to be a fuser warmup problem? I understand a power failure/fuser/thermostat could be possible issues but I would like to try to reset the printer and see if the error persists. My question is what is the codes and procedure for resetting it and what I may need to replace if it happens again?

    It worked, thank you! The previous post was a mistake when I was registering and posting the problem it listed the wrong printer. That's why I had to repost with the correct copier! Take good care appreciate the solution. We are dead here without the copier! ;)

Use the procedure below:


press the yellow “C” button
enter 107
press the red “C” button and keep it hold till the display changes
turn the power off with the big red switch on the front side
turn power on again.

The procedure listed should work on your model. Procedure is different for each model.


If that does not work, then there is need to check the high voltage to fuser and to test the thermistor.

I had the same problem after transit of copier. Try removing the yellow developer unit and give it a good shake. You may need to do it with the other units too.

HOW TO CLEAR AN ERROR [ERROR546]


Hello
Error 546 is a warmup error, when the fuser does not reach fusing temperature within the warmup timer period.

You could attempt to remove the fuser yourself, and clear carbon buildup, or you may have to completely replace the fusing unit.

You can clear the error by going into service mode, and selecting reset.

This error is power related... their are two possibilities either... your fuser is blown or your machine needs a reset... here is a link to try the reset...

SC542 means that the thermistor hasn't detected right temperature in given time.

Often you only have to reset service code.




Try this reset:
  • Press and hold online + escape, then power on.
  • Use up and down arrow keys to select SP2
  • Press Enter
  • Use up and down arror to locate SP5
  • Press Enter
  • Use up and down arrow keys to select 810
  • Press Enter
  • Confirm the selection
  • Power off and on.

SC-546 is "Warm-up" error, suggests that the fuser is NOT reaching 160' within standard warmup time. 

Possible solution: Remove fuser cover, remove carbon buildup from thermistor.

I had to replace the fuser unit but it had 180,000 copies - service is 120,000

SC542 is a warm up error from the fuser.

SC 870 is an address book error.

Turn the power off on the copier. Wait 30 seconds and then turn the power back on. See if it goes away.

Let me know if it doesn't.
