My DS 8100 garment steamer will not heat up. - Rowenta DZ9080 Iron with Auto Shut-off

This has a hose with a wand on in for steaming clothes but, what you are saying is that the heating coil that produces the steam is burned out. Correct? I have looked for reset buttons and fuses but to no avail. It is a pretty expensive item to just throw away for the lack of a heating coil.

The solution tells me that I need to buy another garment steamer. It is, again, another example of planned failure and a growing trash heap of items that are 90% functional.

The Garment steamer is a basic steam iron. I this model you do not have a fuse of any kind and I don't believe it has a auto shutoff. Most likely you have burnt out the heating coil inside the unit.
This is not a repairable item.

I realize your frustration’s but the unit does not have a element which is replaceable and you are correct about the cost.

    Sorry,

    Please rate. Kindly....

Rowenta IS 8100 not heating

Could be lots of things and these need checking through systematically starting with the power cable and working through the circuit stage-by-stage.
Other possibilities, ignoring such things as loose terminals, are thermostat, any safety devices and the heating element.

A multimeter is an essential aid in this sort of task and some familiarity with checking electrical equipment is important.

How to use a steamer.

  1. Plug in the steamer.
    • The steamer usually comes with a smallish padded square with a strap that slips over your hand. (If you so not have one of these, cut out a square from some stiff cardboard, pad it using cotton batting, and cover it with a heavy, smooth, waterproof or water-resistant material.)
  2. Make sure it is steaming nicely before you use it. You check by pulling the little trigger on the handle, and seeing how much steam issues when you release it. You actually want to use this while steaming as well, in order to release more steam when needed.
  3. Hang the garment, and slip the padded square over one hand.
  4. Place the hand with the square on the underside of the garment, and use it to keep the fabric smooth while you steam it.
  5. Use the steamer by holding the nozzle close to the garment, and pulling both it and the padded square in downwards strokes.

Conair steamer leaks water and wets my clothes.

When I use mine I hang the hand held part from my closet door, while I am waiting for it to heat up. When the hose gets too much condensation, from the steam, it leaks out... This will also happen if you try to use in the motion of an iron. The hand held part needs to be at a vertical position at all time to prevent leaking.
