Re: Canon Rebel XTI EOS

There are two chances: 1. your card is not compatible and 2. the card is defective.
good CF-cards you can get from SANDISK. I use them myself w/o a hassle and they are very fast......
keep your hands of Lexar or other Offbrand cards. they are not worth the money you pay for and also too slow. Sandisk cards have a real transfer rate of up to 40MB/s

I have a canon eos rebel xti and the Compact Flash CF Card Reader is broken. The little metal prongs broke off when the memory card got put in wrong. How much to fix this?

If you are referring to the camera the job is up to a repair facility if it's an optional card reader used to transport data to a computer then buy a new reader.

Going back to the camera "normally" a fix like this "depending where in the world you are" will run about $120.00 CDN including the shipping

I have a Cannon EOS Digital Rebel Xti. When I try taking a picture, I keep getting an error message indicating there is a problem with the CF Card. I have replaced the card several time but keep getting...

What you require is to format the Compact Flash Card. The CF card should be formatted when new and after every download. Format the card in the camera it is going to be used it. Constantly deleting pictures on the memory card will cause major corruptions and total failure. Formatting cleans the memory and allows the camera to communicate properly with the CF Card.
I going to give you several diagrams on where to go in your camera to format. these diagrams are screen shots right from your manual.

I have a CF err on my Canon Rebel XTI EOS

If your camera uses a compact flash card, then something is wrong with it. Possible causes: card needs formatting in camera (this will erase it) one or more pins inside camera are bent. Card was erased or formatted on computer instead of camera.

My Canon Rebel xti camera states that is an error with my compact flash, I bought a new one and it still won't work

Pull the cf card out and with a careful eye (maybe a small flashlight and magnifier) look down the slot and check to make sure none of the cF card receiving pins are bent... it happens and it'll give you a card error. Regretfully if this is the case, it'll need a repair, replacement parts are available but it is a little techie to get apart and swap parts... Check the pins... good luck on this..

Err CF

I had the same message on my EOS/Rebel XTI and the camera shop concluded that one of the pins where the card is inserted into the camera had come loose. They sent the camera back to Canon for repair. Luckily, it was still under warranty at the time.

New canon eos digital rebel xti

There have been several reports of CF cards that work with all cameras, except the Rebel XTi. It depends on the actual manufacturer of the card. Canon made a change mid-production that affected the data saving. Try another brand of card & you should not have that problem any more.

Error 2

Error 2 has to do with the Compact Flash (CF) memory card.

Try to copy the contents of the card with a card reader into your PC. Then try reformatting the card with your camera, not your PC.

If the card is empty or you don't mind about its contents, try to format the card right away with your camera.

If that does not work, then most probably your CF card is faulty. If it is still on warranty, send it back to the shop and get a new one.

Hope this helps.
