Watching the TV and heard a "pop", it went dead. Opened up the back and found a blown 4A 125V fuse. Replaced fuse and plugged in TV. Fuse blew instantly when I plugged in the TV. Sylvania...

The power suply unit may be dead......if the fuse blows instantly it means that the main input is short.
possible parts damaged :the diodes from the mains, the power tranzistor and the ic from the primary part and other components around them.
First unplug the tv, unload the mains capacitor (using a light bulb) check all the diodes from the rectifing bridge, check for any shortened semiconductors or blow resistors.

Blown up tv (philips)

There are fuses always inside TVs. The main filters (capacitors) are probably damaged and the regulators are probably blown. Chances are the rest of the set is OK. Sudden bursts like that usually kill the fuses very fast and the regulator takes the brunt of the load. With a multimeter, you could probably check regulators for shorts and replace fuses.

It went off on its on and won't come back on. It just popped off while I was watching it.

It likely blew a fuse. However, TVs rarely blow a fuse for no reason. I recommend getting it fixed. You can try a new fuse of the same size, but if it blows, please get it repaired. DO NOT put a larger fuse in - fire hazard. The fuse maybe solder in.

Heard a pop then screen went blank. Now TV wont turn on.

Sounds like your fuse.

If not the fuse in your plug, then the internal fuse in the TV. to get too this you need to open the TV by taking off the back plastic panel and look at the fuse.

the fuse is the glass tube on the board, will no doubt be near where the power cord connects to the TV. and are easy to replace with another fuse. you will know soon as you open it if its blown as the little glass tube will be blackened or the little wire inside the tube will be missing or severed.

Fuses in TVs are actually designed to blow over time with ware (usually to last a bit longer then the warranty time frame) so after the cover has ended the TV can go in for repair work at extra cost. Its a little known fact.

Fuse Blowing

A blown fuse is usually caused by a shorted regulator or a bridge rectifier circuit. Either way it is a problem in the primary power supply. A bad cord won't blow the fuse in the set, it will blow a circuit breaker in the house. A servicer usually would normally cover the inside of the set with a "few light slits in the AC cord". Hope this helps

Not turning ON, fuse blows.

In most cases, it is either a shorted component in the power supply or a shorted horizontal output transistor. It will take experienced electronic troubleshooting to fix it. TVs have lethal voltages (both 110V and 25,000V kind) and improper repair can result in shock, injury, or the emission of X-rays by the TV! Be safe and either replace the set or have a shop work on it for you. I'm a tech with over 25 years of experience, by the way. I appreciate honest rating of this reply if you find it helpful.
