Just got MCC4516F chainsaw.Used it for 30 mins. Stopped working. Chain brake does not engage or release. Chain does not move. Motor runs but will not engage to make blade move. Seems like chain brake handle does nothing.

You have obviously jammed or broken the chain on the inside of the motor. Take it to be repaired, or try reparing yourself by opening up the engine casing yourself.

You will need to release the brake by applying a very heavy screwdriver to the + shaped part of the brake coupling. Check the action of the brake handle and duplicate it at the the +. Hope this helps!

Chain will not move on chainsaw

Is the chain brake set? Make sure that the chain is not adjusted too tightly. It should be set so that the chain doesn't droop from the bottom, but allows the chain to be moved freely by hand. The chain teeth should cut toward you on the bottom. Check the chain oiling by running the saw tip near to paper or cardboard--it should leave a thin line of oil after a few moments of running. Hope this helps!

Chain brake problem

http://www.echo-usa.com/pdf/documentation/CS3000T1T1E_081303.pdf

This is the breakdown of parts for your model, you can see how the brake is, but your problem sounds like the dogs inside the clutch are stuck and causing the chain to constantly engage the chain.

Open the clutch to look at it and see what is causing this.

The idle usually will not cause the clutch to engage, this is usually
a higher rev that engages the clutch.

I have an Echo CS-440 18" chain saw and the chain came off. Now that I have put it back on, it won't move either by hand or when the engine is running. Help

OK.  This is simple. Either the chain brake is engaged or the chain is too tight. Start by pulling back on the chain brake toward you.  There should be a "click" if the brake was released.  If the chain is still immovable, try resetting the chain tension. 1. remove the spark plug wire 2. loosen the two clutch cover nuts 3.hold the bar nose up and loosen the tension adjustment screw until the chain moves freely without becoming loose. 4. tighten both clutch cover nuts with the bar held up. 5. Pull the chain around the bar by hand.  Loosen the adjustment if you feel tight spots. 6. When the chain is properly tensioned, tighten clutch cover nuts securely.  Do not overtighten! 7.  Check chain brake operation and release. 8. Replace spark plug wire and operate  saw.
Hope this solution will Fixya.

Sounds like th clutch brake is engaged. Try Pushing firmly foward on the hand guard in front of the handle. It should click to release the clutch brake.
