Question about Panasonic PT-50LC14 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

The screen either does not come on at all, comes on after it warms us, comes on right away and then randomly fades to black, is black but audio can be heard. I just replaced the lamp but it still has the above issues.

The ballast is the most common failure on these sets. The ballast is what supplies power to the lamp. If you physically see the lamp dimming/fading out when you loose the picture than the ballast is the issue. The ballast can be purchased from the following website. I would suggest a technician replace it as there are voltage charged up on it that are close to 400 volts. Please take a fe moments to rate my answer. Thank you...

What is wrong with my Samsung Television? Screen issues, but perfect audio.

Hello,

a picture would be great, what you are describing would be a number of things. Being that it's a Samsung, I would suspect a failing LCD panel, very common with older Samsung's and Sony's. Other possibilities are a bad main board or a damaged LCD screen. I guess I should ask if the problem is always there or does it go away when the set warms up? If I have been of assistance, please sign my guestbook!

Samsung TSL2793HF - Slight Right Side Pincushion and Horz Line Bottom to Top Until the TV Warms up

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

Vizio lcd sreen fading out.

Well time will tell if this is a true solution but I experienced the same issue. Originally I was able to get the TV to work by turning it off and back on.

After some research I notice the the Vizio FAQ mentions a similar issue for which the solution is to unplug the unit for 3min.

After calling Vizio, they suggested that under the menu option Setup, Picture, Advanced Video Features, I should try turning off Advanced Adaptive Luma and Backlight Control.

If you're seeing a shadow either vertically or at an angle the most common/probable cause is the light tunnel in the light engine. I have this same problem with my ru-44sz51d and have found many people with similar problems. For reference search "dlp light tunnel" as many samsung dlp's are suffering from the same problem and have been since they were purchased. You should be able to repair this yourself, but only if you feel comfortable and are knowledgable in such a situation. The repair may consist of replacing any number of the 4 or so mirrors or just reapplying the silicone adhesive to the original mirror. As I have not done this yet myself I can only speculate and refer to topics I've read about. Good luck

Digital Frame Kodak EX1011 turn off after few seconde

This seems to be a known problem with Kodak digital frames. I have one and had this problem, hence me searching the net and finding this site.

Anyway, I think I solved my problem when I changed the picture transitions from random to just left swipe. It hasn't turned off since unless it's on the off schedule. I noticed it not showing anything but then I heard audio on one of the videos I had in the USB drive. This meant that it's still on but it's just not showing anything. Changing the transition to just left swipe kept it on. My guess is that some fade to/from black is messed up and kept the screen black. I've had this frame for years so maybe it's just due to age.

Faded Picture

I would have to say it does sound like the CRT is reaching its end. The thing that points this out that the picture gradually gets a little bit better as it warms up. It most likely isn't worth the cost to fix it.
