This is usually a snap on part if you didn't loosed any part nor break, you can try to install it again by carefully studying the mechanism, it differs from model and manufacturer, so its hard to explain in details.

REPOST: Just reset start button by opening and removing and then reinstalling internal battery. Now it powers on, but keyboard does not work touchpad does work.

Try a hard reboot that sometimes fixes glitches including keyboard issues. To do this power down PC, unplug and remove battery. Then hold the power button down for 30 seconds, put battery back in and then plug the PC back in. Power up and see if keyboard works now.

Repair a button on the keyboard sony vaio

Sometimes it's easier to just replace the keyboard. If you can find the key then on some computers it's easy to put on, others are not worth the time.

Look on eBay for a keyboard. Just type your model followed by keyboard. Ex: Sony Vaio VPCCW26FA Keyboard. You'll see keys and keyboards.

Middle keys not working

Did you spill a liquid on the keyboard? If not it might be the keyboard cable needs to be reseated or the keyboard is going bad. To reseat the keyboard, close the lid and turn the keyboard over. Remove the screws from the bottom of the keyboard. Some screws might have the keyboard icon on them which means they secure the keyboard. Remove the battery and most times there will be screws inside the battery case and some might have the icon of a keyboard. After you remove the screws from the bottom, turn the laptop back over and open the lid. Use a small flat head screwdriver to pry on end of the strip that is above the top of the keyboard, then the other end (usually the power button is on this strip). Be careful because this strip might have a cable under it. Once your remove the strip there might be screws that are holding the keyboard if so remove them. Now you can lift the keyboard up, but be careful because there is a cable under it. This is the cable that you want to release from the motherboard and then put it back. Usually this cable is secured by a little piece that you can flip up to remove the cable and push it back down once you put the cable back in.

I have installed new batteries in my keyboard and it will not work. Is there a reset button that I don't see??

No, but there should be a Connect button. Try pressing that. Also ensure that the batteries are in correctly. If so, try removing them and putting them back in.

Good luck, Jim

dirt between the buttons can be one reason, another is wear between the contacts, keyboard is easy cleaned, just put it upside down and use stiff brush to clean between the buttons.

if contacts are dirty, usually caused by spill (my son spill coffe at least twice a year on keyboard during last 10 years of his programming...). easy way is to if use corded keyboard (if wireless start from step3)
1. switch off the computer
2. remove keyboard cable from socket
3. remove batteries if installed
4. turn keyboard upside down
5. remove all screws
6. turn back to correct position
7. remove top frame (with keys)
8. check for any physical debris and remove if any
9. lift rubberised pad and whipe bottom of it with methylated spirit, allow to dry
10. check if plastic film can be separated, if so, whipe each layer with methylated spirit, do not under any circumstances break any of printed conduit lines.
11. when all is dry, put all back together in reverse order. watch for little springs present in some models.
12. go to shop and buy new keyboard... they are about $5.00 to $250.00 in that broad range you can find something suitable and affordable...

this is general description of the keyboard "gizzards", they vary slightly between the brands but principle is this same. if you have keyboard made before 1994, it will be electro-mechanical switches and that will cause more trouble...

Acer 3500 keyboard

Let me start from the top.

1: removing the keyboard: as near as I can tell, at the top of your keyboard is power button etc,.. this cover can be removed.
once removed, there are at least 3 screws under it, once those are out there are 2 more on the bottom. NOTE:
could be that like on my Compaq and IBM the proper keys on the bottem are denoted by a small etching of a keyboard.
It may not be neccesary to remove the keyboard, so if it ain't broke.. don't fix it.
2: Fixing this keyboard is possible IF by stuck you mean they stick but otherwise work. My IBM for example ( used by
my kids on occasion ) has had sticky substances dropped onto the keyboard. I simply removed the appropriate keys,
cleaned them with alcohol and re-seated them. CAUTION: Pay attention to how they come off so you can put them back on
and be careful not to break the plastic connectors.
In closing,.. if all else fails and after cleaning and re-seating the keys dont work, buy a new one. They aren't that expensive if
you look around. I won't put a website here for an on-line store that carries them,.. but do a google search you'll find several
