Question about Philips 60PP9200D Television

Open Question

I have a pretty good pic through the a/v inputs, but not through the HD side. The pic is hourglass shaped and will not respond to any adjustments to attempt to fix it. My local TV tech has tried entering a code and adjusting it there as well with no luck, nothing responds. I have tried to wait for him to get back with me but after several months of telling me he'll get to it, my patience are wearing out. I thought I would explore any other options.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: convergence adjustments codes with remote control

If your talking about a service menu, NEVER ever unless you have the service manual, go into the service menu and change anything to try to fix a problem the service menu is there to adjust sets at instalationsd and not when a problem, occours and when theres a smell. common sense tells you something is wrong and burnt up. So how is a service menu that you have no clue what to do with going to help you fix a set? Im sorry man but wake up and smell the coffee. what makes you a service tech after your set breaks down.,. Oh by the way there is NO such thing as a "CODE" to fix anything in your set. There is a service menu with settings to adjust things like convergence and vertical and tunning of channels, ect ect. Get a manual and follow it if you want to try a "code". you can get one at http://www.service manuals.net Then you will need to call a tech as your set is a solid state set with No user replaceable parts inside them. Please dont risk your life trying to fix a TV set as there is a lot of High Voltage inside these sets even when they are unplugged.

SOURCE: Cloudy picture on Philips Rear Projection TV

Hi - I have been searching the internet for the same solution myself as I have a Thompson projector - most solutions refer to addressing bacteria in the "tv coolant" - however I simply removed the screen and found the colour lamps and rear mirror to be covered in dust. I wiped both (with a duster only) and the picture improved by 100 per cent.

SOURCE: I have a Philips projection screen hd tv great picture but the color is way out off adjustment

see attached photo, it is a convergence problem.

If you have similar problem in customer menu is a way with the remote to adjust.

If it will not adjust there then the convergence chips are bad.

Vertical hold

If the picture is in an hourglass shape this has nothing to do with vertical hold. Besides, on all these sets, the hold and parameters are all uPC controled through a firmware routine that is burned in to an EPROM.

It is obvious that there is a failed component somewhere because of the hour glass shape. The area of failure is most likely in the pin amp section. If the hourglass is from the sides, it would be horizontal pin. If it is top and bottom, the fault is in the vertical pin section.

A common cause is from a capacitor that has failed in the mentioned area. Sometimes it can be an IC or other type of component in the pin amp area, but not as often as failed capacitors.

You can take the set in to service the fault. I don't think you can fix this yourself unless you are trained in TV service and have the experience and setup to troubleshoot for the bad parts, and do this type of service.

Hourglass shape on left and right side-ballpark repair price please

The shape your seeing is called 'V Bow' and 'Pincushion' which needs to be calibrated again. Theres probably a diode that went out. The tech can open it up and adjust the angles back. I wouldn't charge over $100-$150. Shop around for a good repair tech. Good Luck poe_diddley.
