Hyundai atos has no power

Electronic diagnostic equipment will answer this quickly.
This could be related to fuel to air mixture.
The possibility is good that it is ignition and valve timing related.
It could also be a worn cam belt drive pulley (gear).
Check the condition of the cam belt drive pulley located at the bottom of the engine on the crankshaft. I have written an article previously related to this pulley wearing out and damaging the timing pick up sensor as well as throwing out igntion and valve timing. If you dont have access to electronic diagnostic equipment it might be worth your while doing this mechanical check. Remove top cam belt cover. Manually turn engine till you line up the top camshaft sprocket with the casing timing mark (tdc). Then check the position of the bottom v-belt timing mark. It should be exactly on TDC. If not, there is a cam timing issue which could be related to the cambelt drive pulley (gear). To confirm, remove the cam belt covers and check the drive pulley carefully. It will take you a couple of hours, but will help confirm this.

My Renault megane 2003 began juddering on the motorway doing around 70mph then the engine management light kept flicking on and off. I pulled over stop the engine turned all electrics off and restarted it,...

Check the timing belt. It should have been changed at 60,000 miles. Sounds like you have lost some teeth on the synchronous belt resulting in lost timing. Damage to valves can occur. look under plastic cover on the end of the head for the belt

Where is the oil filter? I just can not see it?

The oil filter is not so easy to locate. It is on the bottom right hand sode of the engine. You need to look down between the small gap between the drive belt and timing belt cover. You need to access it from under the engine near the right front wheel access is limited due to the plastic splach guard under the engine. This guard is usually held on by screws or bolts. Take it off and you should be able to get access to the filter.

How do you set the timming on a 2.3 when your putting the new timming belt on

The IGNITION timing on your Ranger is computer-controlled and is not adjustable.

Should the camshaft drive belt/timing belt jump timing by a tooth or two, the engine could still run; but very poorly. To visually check for correct timing of the crankshaft, auxiliary shaft, and the camshaft follow this procedure:
There is an access plug provided in the cam drive belt cover so that the camshaft timing cam be checked without moving the drive belt cover.
  1. Remove the access plug.
  2. Turn the crankshaft until the timing marks on the crankshaft indicate TDC.
  3. Make sure that the timing mark on the camshaft drive sprocket is aligned with the pointer on the inner belt cover.

Never turn the crankshaft of any of the overhead cam engines in the opposite direction of normal rotation. Backward rotation of the crankshaft may cause the timing belt to slip and alter the timing.

Fig. Fig. 3: Releasing the timing belt tensioner using a special tool

  1. Rotate the engine so that No. 1 cylinder is at TDC on the compression stroke. Check that the timing marks are aligned on the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys. An access plug is provided in the cam belt cover so that the camshaft timing can be checked without removal of the cover or any other parts. Set the crankshaft to TDC by aligning the timing mark on the crank pulley with the TDC mark on the belt cover. Look through the access hole in the belt cover to make sure that the timing mark on the cam drive sprocket is lined up with the pointer on the inner belt cover.

Always turn the engine in the normal direction of rotation. Backward rotation may cause the timing belt to jump time, due to the arrangement of the belt tensioner.
  1. Drain cooling system. Remove the upper radiator hose as necessary. Remove the fan blade and water pump pulley bolts.

  1. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1 (4WD AND PRE RUNNER DRIVE TYPE)
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, then remove the under cover No.1.
    2. dak408_42.gif
  • REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
    1. While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the V-ribbed belt from the belt tensioner.
  1. INSPECT V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY
    1. Check that nothing gets caught in the tensioner by turning it clockwise and counterclockwise. If a malfunction exists, replace the tensioner.
    2. dak408_43.gif
    3. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT
    1. While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, align with its holes, and then insert a bar of 6 mm (0.24 inch) into the holes to fix the belt tensioner.
    2. Install the V-ribbed belt.
    3. While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the bar.
    4. dak408_44.gif
    1. If it is hard to install the V-ribbed belt, perform the following procedure.
(1) Put the V-ribbed belt on all parts except the P/S pump, as shown in the illustration. (2) While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, put the V-ribbed belt on the P/S pump.
  1. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1 (4WD AND PRE RUNNER DRIVE TYPE)
    1. Install the engine under cover with the 4 bolts. Torque: 29 Nm (296 kgf-cm, 21 ft. lbs.)

Time belt istall on kia sophea

Hi. Here is the procedure on how to replace the timing belt

tools required:
- 10, 12, 14, 21 mm sockets / wrench
- 17 mm deep socket
- breaker bar
- phillips screwdriver
- 2 regular jacks
- 6 pack budlight or smirnoff

1- jack up the car and remove left tire.

2- remove two platic retainers in the cover under the fog light hole, purpose of this is to provide enough room for the fender cover to move around.

3- cover underneath the left fender to access the crank pulley. remove two plastic retainers using the phillips screwdriver, remove 3 10mm bolts that attach the cover to the crossmember (radiator support).

4- remove both alternator and power steering belts.

7- put second jack under the engine and jack it up until you can see the engine moving upwards just a couple millimeters (too much might damage the motor mounts).

8- remove left motor mount (the one by the belts) using 17mm deep socket. It will give you better access to the bolts in the timing belt cover.

5- remove timing belt cover. (6 10mm bolts)

6- with the 21mm socket at the crank pulley give the engine two full turns and align all the timing marks (small arrows pointing downwards you'll find three markings, 2 in the valve cover above the cam gears, and one one the block above the crank) TIP: I like to give the engine the two full turns, verify that everything is fine and then give it an aprox. 1/4 turn more, until i feel there is no resistance in the cam gears, then mark with a chalk stick, makes it so much easier to put the new belt on.

6- remove crank pulley

8- loosen timing belt tensioner (14mm bolt, left pulley)

that should cover everything, replacement is the inverse, should take you about 2 hours.

97 tahoe bad miss when ideling

For a larger engine, they could still be missing but you won't notice it once it is turning above the idle speed.
For both of you, I would suggest you check under the hood in the darkest area you can find and with the under-hood light disconnected if you have one, for sparks along the sparkplug and distributor leads.
I had to replace all of them after only four years on my lousy GM vehicle.
For jancsi; check for a drive belt that is close to failing. Your problem sounds like a water pump that isn't being turned as it should. That's why the heater works when you rev the engine, the slippage is less significant once the RPMs are higher.
