There are 2 ways of doing this.

Either you boot your computer with the Recovery CD's that were given by HP to you.

Or, as soon as you power on the computer, start tapping on F10 key. This will take you to recovery if the partition is intact.

Do you have the original "System Restore" (or "Product Recovery") set of CD-ROMs that came with the computer? If so, put the first disk into the CD-drive, and reboot your computer, and tell it to boot from the CD-ROM.

If you don't have those disks, is there a "recovery partition" (a small percentage of the disk-space) available? Restart the computer, and select to start from the Recovery Partition.

If not, then telephone HP, and order a replacement set of those CD-ROMs. Probable cost is $20 for the disks, and $20 for next-day-courier shipping.

Try this, start up in Safe Mode press F8. Choose Safe Mode, when at the choice window, to select either Safe Mode Desktop, OR System Restore, chooses system restore and choose a time before you had the "Problem" and follow instructions. This should get you back.

Format/restore computer to factory settings

Press F11 at system startup to get to the NEC recovery menu. From there, you can restore your factory settings. However, a "destructive" recovery will wipe the hard drive, including your personal files. Best to back those up first before performing the recovery.

Hope this helps - remember to rate :)
