I bought 15 used MSNTV2 units from a government liquidation auction with the hopes of reselling them for a profit. I failed to realize that these are password protected machines and there isnt much you can do without the previous owners password. Is there any way to wipe out the previous owners user information without having to call tech support?

Yes they did and here is another thing people don't realize. But the NFL has a none profit status with the IRS, so they don't pay taxes.

If I recall correctly, you can get passed the password and use the computer, but you cannot do anything that would require an administrator password. In order to get passed that, you would have to format (because it will not let you reload Windows without a password) and load a fresh copy of Windows. I hope this helps.

msntv2 boots up and then turns off repeatedly with no video or the video will be towards the bottom of the tv screen why?

It is likely you received a service port necessary to remove and replace the refrigerant in the failed system. Add a photo? It should be capable of clamping around 1/4 or 5/16 copper tubing and then piercing through the tubing via a schrader valve in the 5/16 flare nipple. Needs to be capped with a metal cap when you complete the job. Be sure to neutralize if you have an acid burnout condition from the failed compressor... copper windings burning in the absence of oxigen with all that hydrogen rich coolant makes for very high H+ concentration (i.e. ACID). The pH is minus the log of the hydrogen ion concentration so that number will be low.

1) add the service port
2) using your service hose and a transfer pump, remove refrigerant
3) test for acid and neutralize as needed, replace filter dryer anyway
4) replace compressor with make-up oil as measured from the failed unit and any collected with the refrigerant... use new oil only
5) pressure test with dry nitrogen
6) vacuum and hold 26+ inches Hg, more in cold areas
7) charge refrigerant in by weight specified on label
8) allow to equalize before starting, do not start in extreme cold since liquid refrigerant could be in the lines
9) recycle contaminated or acidic refrigerant
10) test the charge using a superheat/subcool setup if the system is not performing satisfactorily

If you bought it from a mail-house (like the ones out of New York or New Jersey), they have a tendency to break up the manufacture's package and remove the accesories that are supposed to come with it. They sell the DVD player at a reduced price and make a higher profit by reselling the accesories separate. The one I bought (from Macy's) came with the Lithium battery, AC cable, remote, car adapter, AC adapter/charger, and earphones all packed in the box with a carrying handle.
