SOURCE: my printer is not printing
Oki appear to only have made a B6100 model printer, this is actually classed as a workgroup mono printer and only prints in black and white, It is not a colour printer here in the UK. I think the US may have this as a C6100 and I think it is similar to the 5000 series of printers. the user manual can be found at http://my.okidata.com/PP-C6100n.nsf?opendatabase . I would print a Menu Map and check the settings and also check the driver setting is not set to B/W printing.

Hey, I got it worked out so that it will print color. I called OKIDATA and initially they said they didn't know what to do and you needed to go back to Radio Shack. Then after talking to a supervisor the associate gave me the following instructions to download
1 - go to okidata.com 2 - click on "drivers" at the top of the page 3 - select "color page printer" 4 - select "C6100n" 5 - click "go" 6 - on the new page that comes up, on the left side of the page, click "Utilities" 7 - Scroll down to "English Job Accounting SERVER" and download the file (version 3.54) 8 - After the program is installed, open it and click the Printer Tab and "Add A Printer" 9 - Once the printer is found, it should show up in the list on the right of the screen. 10 - Right-click the printer and select "properties" 11 - Click the "User" tab - there should be in the status row something about "disabled color printing" 12 - Double click on the rows that say that and for each do the following:
1 - Click the "Use Restrictions Tab" 2 - De-select "print in mono" and "disable color printing"
Then when you've done that for each row, Click "ok"
And then you should be good to go. It worked on my computer right after that. I'm directly connected via USB and also connected wirelessly through our small network.

I'm not familiar with this printer, but my Samsung colour laser has an option in the driver for choosing 'color' or 'grayscale' - make sure it's not something as basic as that for starters.

SOURCE: it only prints black and white
Somebody must have followed the instructions:
Print Only in Black and White:
• Click Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes.
• Left click on Laser to highlight.
• Click File > Printing Preferences.
• Click on the Color tab.
• Click on the circle by Grayscale to move the bullet to that selection.
• Click Apply and OK.
to switch from "colour" printing to "black".
So, "unclick" the 'Grayscale' setting.

It may not be an actual problem with your printer. The two things that cause most Communication Errors are a failing Printer Cable and corrupted Printer Drivers. Problems in your actual Computer System [bad software, hardware problems, incorrect settings, etc], can also cause communication errors. You can delete your old drivers and download the latest available drivers.Bad or corrupted drivers can cause many problems. "DEINSTALL" [remove] your old drivers/printer first and then reload drivers.
Reset printer and hope it works.
