There are two probable causes. firstly have you checked your button trap which is found at the bottom of washing machine. this may be blocked but do put a towel down on the floor as water will escape. this is normal.

Secondly it could be the pump this needs a technician. Sounds like the pump has gone bad, is clogged up or has something such as a sock stuck in the drainage hose.

You will have to unplug it and take the back plate off to check it out.
Can you hear the pump start up after the wash cycle ends? If so, could be your timer is going bad or a clog.

Would check the pump and drain hose for clogs first.

Hope helped.

Either the selector switch for drain is not reading accurately, or pump/drain is blocked. I first would check for any clogs, in the drain screen and drain itself. Then also check the pump for jams. You can test power to the pump with a voltmeter to see if there is power. If so, then pump could be bad. If no power, then switch is likely bad and you can test that with test light or ohmmeter/voltmeter.

to remove the dial, you will have to dismantle all the top screws and take apart the top piece that the switch sits in. Then once you have access to the wires, you can test them with an ohmmeter or test-light to determine that it is the switch that is faulty.

I have had this problem with two of my previous washers a top loader and front loader. Each time it was a faulty pump that drains the water from the tub after the wash cycle is complete. If the water does not drain from the tub the machine will not go to the spin cycle. Both of my washers were 5 or 6 years old when this occurred. If the washer is only 5 months old it should be under the manufactures warranty. Good Luck.

Kenmore Heavy Duty Series 70 washing machine gets stuck in cycle.

Either your timing motor has broken or the gears that it drives are stripped. The timing motor is easy to replace but if the gears are stripped you will need a whole new dial assembly.

Fills correctly, won't agitate, drains correctly, won't spin. then goes off after it thinks it's completed the cycle.clothes remain soaked.

it is most likely your washing mode selector it tends to do that because the dial will stop turning and it will cause problems like that.

it may be waiting for a faulty heater to kick in. try it on a cold water wash, no heat and see if it continues the full wash. if it does not then it may have a faulty timer.

Ge top loader washer agitator does not work

To check the agitator. Start the washer into wash cycle. Once started Push down on top of agitator. If it catches some times or all of the time when pushing down, then then doggets are worn, under the agitator. You`ll have to remove the agitator to see these. If by pushing down on the agitator, nothing changes, Then you probably have a transmition problem. Check this and let me know what you find.
