i suggest first reading the directions to make sure you are connecting the face plate correctly. or you could gorilla glue it on just to make sure the connections from the face plate and radio are connected before binding the two
if im not mistaken, that model has a detachable face plate. What happens a lot of the time is the connections between the face plate and the unit get corroded. Take the face plate off and (with fine grit sand paper) lightly scuff the electrical connection clean on both the unit and the face plate. It also doesn't hurt to use a little dielectric grease before you reattach it... this method has work several times in the past for me... Hope this helped!
Check the contacts on the back of the face plate, if dirty or corroded use a pencil eraser to clean them off (soft abrasion) if it is still constant then I need more info.
The face plate is easy to take apart, just remove the face plate off the head unit and take the hex screws out and put a piece of tape over the bulb on the system board. Then put it back together again.
Icepick , there are diode in the radio to allow the voltage to flow to get those lights glowing. If the voltage is not at a specific level then you may have the problem you are describing. make sure you have 13.8 volts of power coming into the radio then check you voltage on T712 to make sure the voltage is ok also IC 5 . Check diodes 68 , 69, 71,72 for correct voltage . now you need a voltage chart. You will have to google it .
"Unable to read the disc" / "Disc could not be read" / "Eject the Game Disc" Error Message.
If you are getting one of the above error messages:
Ensure that you are properly loading a Game Disc.
If your console is placed vertically, the disc label will face to the right.
If your console is placed horizontally, the disc label will face upwards
If you know you are inserting the Game Disc correctly, but are still have the same problem with only one game (or if you only have one game), try cleaning the Game Disc by following the disc cleaning procedures
If after reading the above information you are still unable to play a game disc, please call 1-800-255-3700 to discuss available options.
There is a base plate that is screwed to the wall. The face of the thermostat should come off from the base. Usually the batteries can be found back there. Some times a little tug will get it off the wall. Other models have small plastic release clasps that when pushed in will allow the unit to come off.
The unit does not need an earpiece. Make sure that you do not have anything plugged into the audio out port on the back of the unit. Also make sure that the volume is turned up. If you hear the normal navigation instructions from the 550 then the volume is OK.
If all else fails, then reset both the 550 and your phone. To reset the 550, use your thumbnail to pry the face plate off. There is a small indentation on the upper side of the face plate where it meets the screen. Once the face plate is removed, depress the reset switch on the front right side of the unit.
