I have a mig welder which has been great for ten years but has stopped feeding the wire/gas etc. there is a 6amp fuse for this which has been replaced just incase but sure that is not the problem. the welder is running fine but doesnt seem to be getting the message from the trigger to start welding ive checked the switch on the trigger and the wiring back to the welder and they all appear to be fine.

Try to short the trigger wire back closer to the unit or better still inside the panel somewhere. There is often a relay that is operated that allows gas to flow and power to the wire feed motor. Check where the trigger wire goes it may give you some idea. If you can identify the part you can source one and see if it worthwile repairing. Cheers

Wire feed is stop and go. Whats bindding the wire? cleaned drive wheel to make sure no grease etc.

A lot of wire feeding problems can be cured by changing the contact tip. It only takes a little contamination, weld splatter, arcing to cause the symptoms you've described.
With over 40 years experience with wire feed welder I've
found that 9 out of ten times feeding problems are tip related. The drive roll tension cab sometimes cause the symptoms you're describing. Also keeping your mig torch as straight as possible, no curls or bends will help eliminate feeding issues.

Why wont the wire come through my cosmo gas gasless welder

Most mig welders have reversible feed spools. There is a good chance you have the spool in the .030 wire side. Remove the spool retaining clip and flip the spool to .023 wire for example. I don't know what size wire you are using. Also there is an adjustment for the drive spool. Tighten the tensioner spring thumb screw to increase the feed tension.

I am having a issue with the feed and the welder quits welding after about a inch of welding then will intermittently weld for a second or two then stop again. I use this welder to keep my family tractor...

First thing I would check is the relay that sends power to the transformer when you pull the trigger. That can be one of the hardest parts of a Mig welder to troubleshoot because you can read full voltage through the thing with a multimeter when the contacts are dirty and it's not functioning properly.

That's assuming you're losing power. If it's a feed issue then we can address that later.

Flux wire on Dual Mig Welder not feeding.

Change the contact tip. This is the most common problem. The tip gets burned and keeps the wire from feeding. You should always have extra tips on hand.

Wire feed stopped after tack welding on set-up jig

i had the same problem. its probably a bad solder on the wire feed pot. not hard to fix ,but you need a solering iron .BE CAREFULL 1 unplug welder.
2 remove pot and the nut underneath.
3 remove case from welder and remove controll box.
4 run the soldering iron over the joins , then put it all back together, should work fine.

Wire feed not working Miller 250 mig welder

Hi there,
If the knob spins all the way around (and especially of it didn't always do that), it's broken. This could mean that the nut that holds the rheostat in place has come loose, or it could be that the wiper inside the rheostat has broken off the shaft. To find the voltage measurements, correct schematics, etc, I'd need to know the serial number of your welder.

Regards,
Carl
