Question about Televison & Video

My Samsung HLR5078W comes on for 35 seconds and off 10 then cycles over. During this time I have no control over remote or set. Lamp indicator light is blinking...but Lamp is good (lights fine) and color wheel is okay. Tech said Digital Board but from what I read it is not that either. I cannot get to the timer mode because I have no controls. This is the 3rd or 4th time I've been on here...and frankly I fel like I am getting the runaround...Three different Techs told me different things about the lamp being lit but not working.. Any thoughts ?

uhhhhh...THIS is exactly why I am becoming frustrated with you guys...In my message I clearly state

"Lamp is good(lights fine)" And you tell me to check the ballast.... Then,I wrote "Tech said Digital
Board, but from all I've read it is not that either. Your response..."A common problem is the DMD Board". Finally, you tell me about the safety switch..."It is blue in color and sometimes these switches
go bad or debounce as we call it". No word about how I fix that....
Seems you guys need a "FixYa" for your FixYa.

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all you’ll need to reset the Projection TV and to reset it follow these steps—

1. Turn off the television and wait for 5 minutes.

2. After 5 minutes unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.

3. Let the television remain without power for more then 1 minute.

4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. If the television is plugged into a power surge protector, remove it from there and plug it directly into the wall outlet. Turn on the television. If the issue is resolved, then the problem is with the power surge protector and not the television.

However, as the TV is shutting itself off then the fault protection circuit has detected a fault and has turned down the TV. You'll need to check various things to be sure which part is bad. Please check these---

1. Check for signal cables at the back and also try unplugging the TV for 8-10 hours to reset it.

2. Swollen /bulged capacitors on the power supply board-- This happens due to overheating of capacitors.

3. If the capacitors are fine then you'll need to check for connectors on all the boards and also the fans if they are working fine.

4. Make sure the lamp connections are fine and ballast is not burnt.

If still the issue persists, then it is a case of convergence failing and convergence board is required to be repaired at the component level by repairing the circuits or replaced it as a whole.

Note-- Please make sure to turn off and unplug the TV for at least 1 hour (this will drain off current from all components especially capacitors) before you perform any repairs. Also note that the TV consists of very high voltages even when it is in OFF condition.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Hello: Maybe i can help you resolve this problem. There might be a problem with the ballast on this model. The lamp will not get the signal from the ballast to light the lamp until the color wheel has reached its maxium RPM around 9,000rmp. If you have replaced your color wheel recently and the lamp, then you might consider the ballast which is called the (lamp driver) maybe at falult. But lets not be hasty, A common known problem that can also cause this is the DMD Board which controls the color wheel and signal processes to the Ballast. One more note. On the back of this set is a lamp door safety switch which is known to fail also. It is blue in color and sometime the contacts inside these switches go bad or debounce as we call it.

Hello: The only way to fix a faulty switch is to replace it entirely. You can defeat the switch by unplugging the connector from the switch going into the board. and shorting the two pins together. This will defeat the safety switch and allow you to do futher troubleshooting, but I recommend if you find that it was the switch replace it with new samsung part.

SAMSUNG UA60H700 TV not powering up

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices.

Did you reset the lamp hour after replacing the lamp. If not do the following for the same and try again. Also check is the lamp inserted is correct or not. Also check the lamp cover is properly closed or not.

press the "Help" button on the remote control for a minimum of 10 seconds while in standby mode. When the lamp time clock is reset to zero, the LAMP indicator (red light )goes out.

Samsung HLR5078W pop sound followed by a loud buzz then shut down

Your lamp burst. This model uses a lamp housing which does not have a filter screen on it. When the lamp bursts, hot pieces of glass and mercury (very toxic) drop straight down into the cooling fan below it. Although (implies I'm suppose to tell you how to fix it) I am going to tell you to call a servicer and have them clean that mess out of there. It's a health issue, I don't want someone unknowingly exposed to mercury on my watch. Let the servicer know what he is getting into. I hope this helps.

No picture, won't turn off

the noise you hear after the melody would you describe it as like a buzz or a small chainsaw? If so you have a bad color wheel assembly. If the noise is intermittent than your issue could be the ballast that controls the lamp. If you've already changed the lamp the next step should be the ballast.

If it is a lamp error try this:
When the lamp exceeds 2100 hoursof service, the projector cannot turn on and the manu is not displayed. Do the following:
For VT670/VT470 Press the help button on the remote control for a minimum of ten seconds.
