Question about Mamiya RB67 Pro SD Medium Format Camera

1 Answer

Hi there, my pro-sd 120 rfh has stopped winding on film. the lever just spins freely with no resistance. I am wary about opening it up in case any tiny springs go walkabout. can anyone advise me, or even guesstimate a repair price. Ta !

Sounds like the film has come loose. Either it's not properly loaded or it has cut. Try to open the camera in a dark room and feel your way thru the inside of the film track to assure the situation.

Mamiya RB67 Pro S: film counter does not advance, but the film does advance purchase another back same problem. Is there a switch that I'm missing??

If the problem is on the magazine's counter and if the spacing of frames is correct then the counter dial is loose. two screws on the outside front of the top of magazine, two screws in the film chamber hold the top cover. remove leather cover on winding lever loosen screw and remove. you can then remove the complete top housing to expose the counter mechanism.

The film advance lever is stuck on my Minolta Hi-Matic C. I bought this at a thrift store today to see if it worked. The film advance lever worked fine for a while and then got stuck. Put a new battery...

Have you rewound the film? If you rewind the file completely and pull out the rewind know, it will pop the back open . . . and can remove the film cassette. While the back is still open, complete the cycle on the winding crank. The winding crank should return to "Normal" arter you complete the winding cycle. When you close the back, everything should go back to normal.

On the 120 and 220 film backs for the 67 pro s there is red dot that can be covered or uncovered i have forgetton what that does, can you help

I believe you're talking about the multi-exposure switch, located just above the wind lever on the film back? Red dot visible, multi-exposure (or firing without film) possible, covered vice-versa.

Pro-S film back doesn't advance film properly.

There is good chance that the back needs a spring replaced. I've seen them fail many times.

My Mamiya RB67 triggers and shutter lease lever works but film advance lever doesn't move. Trigger button fired several times but film advance still showing 1.

This is not the best solution as it indicates a faulty film back. The film should advance without resorting to activating the film-wind release lever. That is only for intentionally advancing a partially exposed roll of film. Make sure the multi-exposure lever is not engaged and that the counter does advance and the red mark disappears as you advance to an unexposed frame.

Wind / shutter issue (2nd try to post)

It sounds like there is a problem with the frame counter in the film back itself. Try operating the camera with the back removed and on multi-exp to check the shutter functions.

Pressing the rewind button wind the film advance lever,if it is free It will set to its place. Release the rewind button, press the shutter release button.Once again try wind the film.( provided your camera is not fitted with motor wind )
