Hi, their are a few ways you can do this you can actually buy a converter that plugs into your computer that lets you play the tapes through a video recorder that has a usb port on it enabling direct transfer of the vhs you want to convert.
But their are also many other ways of doing this:

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

How do you get to the head to clean it?

Google for CD/DVD cleaners and VHS cleaners. A CD/DVD cleaner is like a CD, but has a small built in brush that'll clean the laser head. A VHS cleaner is like a VHS cassette tape, but instead of magnetic tape, it's a cleansing tape.

I have a Panasonic DMR-ES30V. I've only ever recorded from what I'm watching on the TV to a DVD. I now have a VHS tape that I'd like to record to DVD. I tried starting the dvd to record...

Most Combo Recorders (VHS and DVD) will prevent you from
recording a Copyrighted VHS tape program onto DVD.
Try recording a TV program onto your VHS tape, then
transfer it to your DVD and see if your new DVD recording
will work or not.

I have a number of VHS-C tapes from my various video cameras in the early-to-mid 1990s that I'm transferring to DVD via my DVD/VCR combo device. But several of of these tapes that have the suffix...

VHS-C and S VHS-C are two different animals. Super VHS-C will have much better video resolution than standard VHS and uses better videotape. A standard VCR will not play the Super format. You need a S VHS VCR. You would need not only a S VHS VCR but also a S VHS-C adapter. Yes, Not even the adapter is the same as a standard VHS-C adapter cassette.

You can send out your few S VHS-C tapes to a video conversion service. That might be the least expensive way to get them on DVD. Otherwise you could look on E-Bay.com for either a compatible camcorder (S VHS-C) or the S VHS VCR and the S VHS-C adapter.

http://vhs-to-dvd.com is one video conversion service that should be able to get your tapes on DVD for you. You could also look locally for a video service that does conversions to DVD.

I cannot copy commercially recorded VHS tapes to DVD. Msg comes up saying it is COPY PROTECTED. Heard that if for personal use only I am permitted to copy tapes. Any way around this?

No,this can be done only copyright materials through the VHS box converter run through a computer with a programs call copy decoders programs.Than u can copy VHS copy protected matrials.Than u reburn it back to DVD disc.So this require alot of work, time and money so not worth it to copy commercially VHS tapes to DVD Disc.

Conversion vhs to dvd

I can only offer you 1 option for this case.
In converting the VHS video tape to DVD you can use computer. All you need to have is the VHS player with RCA audio video cables. Then a computer that has video capture card or USB capture card. This will take time but you can just transfer all the copyrighted videos to DVD and to computer data (post to internet)

*Needs realtime transfer VHS to Computer with the prefered resolution option.
*Burn to DVD, it will depends on your DVD drive speed.

Can the panasonic dmr-eh75v copy a vhs tape to DVD?

Yes, that's mostly what I use mine for. You actually copy your VHS to the Hard Drive, then copy from your hard drive to your blank DVD. I'm about 1/3 of my way through reformatting my VHS library (800+ tapes.)

PAL to NTSC conversion

This is not a converting unit, it will play the format of the tape inside. To convert the signal you need one of the following:

1) A converting VHS player; they are fairly expensive.
2) A separate video converter (hardware); they run for about $200-$500; just put this between your VCR and the TV.
3) Capture the PAL on your computer using a software like Movie Maker via a Firewire cable. Than convert it to NTSC on your machine using software like Nero... do a search on Google for converting software. Or just watch it on our computer in PAL format, most computers do that... For this step I use a separate camcoder that has a passthrough feature. The VCR connects to it and the camcorder connects to the computer via Firewire.
4) send the PAL tape to a specialized shop for conversion. They normally charge $30-$40 for a regular 2h VHS tape.

IMPORTANT: If attempting to copy copyrighted material the Samsung DVD-VR320 will detect the encoding and will not allow the copy to be made.
