in a word, no. If you are trying to get photos from your phone, use a micro SD card. Your laptop should have a standard SD card readers, and with an adapter you can get the information off the Micro SD card.
If the correct driver is installed, you should be able to go to my computer, double click to open , and your SD drive should be listed. If not, let me know and we can troubleshoot.
Some laptops or desktops are not ready equipped with SD or Micro SD slots for insertion of your camera memory cards, You may have to buy an external drive with built in SD Slots. I would suggest you go to Best Buy and they will point you in the right direction. I cant help you from here buddy, go to a locval PC store or best buy / radio shack and they will take care of you.
it sounds like you need a new driver for it search for one online but make sure you know what make and model of card reader it is, this is probably harder to find out as it is inside the computer
Did you recently change or add memory? My 9300 will not recognize 4GB RAM after I upgraded the BIOS to version 1.2, so I use only 2GB and it works ok again.
If you are attempting to transfer photos off an SD card in your camera and you are connecting your camera directly to your PC then you may want to get an external SD card reader as this is a fairly common problem and an external reader should solve it.
If you are already using a card reader I would think that the cables connecting the reader to your computer are defective. To test this try connecting your card reader to a different USB port, if it functions fine then you know the problem is with the previous port you were connecting too.
ALSO, check in "my computer" and see if it registers as a removable drive there. If not, then check in the device manager while the card is inserted and look for any yellow icons. There is a chance that the card reader need a driver installed or updated.
i had this problem so i put my SD card in the reader and restarted my laptop as soon as it logged on it said installing new device now the card reader works everytime
Open "my computer". The SD should be visible from that window. If you right click on the SD drive and chose "explore" from the drop down list it will open a window so you can access the files inside.
