Question about Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook
I did talk to someone at geek squad and they were saying and by switching some ports where the HD connects to the IDE to another IDE port and he was saying it is easy. Am I making sense by saying this. So is it possible to switch ports and reboot the system without having to purchase a new HD and a usb enclosure?
The hard drive will only need to be replaced if it is in fact corrupt, otherwise run FDISK and format the drive, save some money.

You'll need to replace your hard drive.

SOURCE: DST Error (1000-0146)
This error is a hard drive failure, your only option is to replace it and reload your operating system. It's easy to replace, the hard drive is located on the side of the machine and is held by one screw. After you get it out, the rest is self explanitory. Here's a link that shows breakdown diagrams.
