I'd try reinstalling the software. The instructions specifically say to install the software before connecting the calculator. If you didn't do that, then a complete uninstall and reinstall of the software will be needed. I'd also make sure you are using the newest version of the software located here from the TI site.

Good luck, and if you feel this has helped you, please rate it accordingly!

How to download the Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator

1.Get linking software for your computer, such as TiLP, or TI Graph-Link, and follow the installation instructions to install it.

2.Plug your cable into the computer (where depends on what cable you have)(somtimes your computer does not have the right kind of entrance) and the other end into the calculator.

3.Start the linking program that you just installed. If it detects the calculator, everything is working fine, and proceed.

4.Download calculator software from the internet. You can find many programs athttp://www.ticalc.org

5.Make sure downloaded program is unzipped and located in a normal windows folder

6.Select the program you downloaded in your linking program (how you do this varies between programs) and send it to the calculator. For Windows this can involve finding the unzipped program in windows explorer and right clicking it (from a normal--nonzipped--folder window) and selecting "send to TI device"

7.Use the program on your calculator.

TIPS: If you have a USB cable, you will need either TiLP or TI Connect, no other software supports it

Things you'll need:

-A Texas Instruments graphing calculator

-A link cable for the calculator

-An internet connection

Hi twylazhangzh,

Sound like your Ti 84 Plus is really over loaded and, can't function properly. You can fix that by installing the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS. operating system.

If you have a friend that has a Ti 84 Plus or, Ti 84 Plus Silver Edition you can connect the two calculators together through the IO link ports and, they can send you a copy of their OS while you receive it on your Ti 84 Plus. Hopefully your friend will have Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS on their calculator or, it might not work.

If you can't find a calculator to connect to you can connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer that has Ti Connect software on it. If you need to connect your Ti 84 Plus to a computer just keep following my instructions below.

First, you need to download and, install Ti Connect to your computer. If you don't need any help installing Ti Connect goto Procedure 1.

If your computer's OS is XP or Mac and, you need instructions to download and, install Ti Connect click, "Install Ti Connect on my XP or Mac OS". Just follow Procedure 1 at that posting and, come back to this posting to finish downloading and, installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS to your calculator.

If your computer's OS is Windows 7 and, you need instructions to download and, install Ti Connect click, "Install Ti Connect on my Windows 7 OS". Just follow Procedure 3 at that posting and, come back to this posting to finish downloading and, installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS to your calculator.

Procedure 1 to installing Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS

1). You can also get the latest copy of Ti84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS and, guidebook by going to the Texas Instruments web site. You can get to that site instantly by clicking, "Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS!" Once your at the Ti site click the Download Item, "Ti84 Plus family operating system". Next you can login or, click "continue as guest". I'd would click the "continue as guest". Once you have click, "continue as guest" the Ti84 Plus family operating system will download to you.

Next, click "SAVE" and then a window to a folder will pop up. It is probably a window to a folder that you download too. If so, you may want to change it and, save to this folder, "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads". You can also go back and, download the Ti 84 Plus guidebook too, if needed.

Link your computer and, Ti 84 Plus calculator with the USB cable or, Direct Black Link cable that came with the Ti 84 Plus calculator. Next, drag the Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS that you saved earlier in "My Documents \ My TI Data \ Downloads" out of that folder and, drop it in the "Ti Connect" icon on the desktop. Click, "Continue" when the "Erase Warning" pops up and, the new Ti 84 Plus 2.55v MP OS will begin to install.

Next, the Ti Device window should pop up and, highlight the port when found that your Ti 84 Plus is using, USB1 cable or, Direct Black COM1.

oneplusgh_42.jpg

When the Ti Device Explorer finds and, highlights your calculator's information click, "Select." Then click, "Yes" when the next window shows up with your calculator's information and, the OS will continue to download. Upon completion the newest Ti 84 Plus 2.55v. MP OS will be installed.

If you run into any trouble with software or, drivers just comment to what failed at this posting and, I'll be glad to help you.

Your problem is not with the download. Rather it concerns the connection between calculator and computer.
Install the drivers first then connect the calculator to the computer with one of the two cables (SilverLink USB, or miniA to standard USB)
The procedure is described in the following, Please read it till the end then try it. If you have any problem, post a comment to this thread.
If you have a USB SilverLink cable, use it to connect the calculator though the I/O (round) port.
If you do not have a USB SilverLink cable, you can use the mini USB to USB Direct cable but you will have to install the correct driver for it.

I do not know what computer operating system you are running and I use Windows XP so I will describe the installation procedure for Window XP SP3.

Install TI connect 1.6 for Windows; if your system is Vista you must install a patch available on the TI website, at the same page where you find TI Connect.

After you install TI Connect, connect you calculator to the computer with the mini USB standard USB Direct cable. Windows will detect the calculator and will try to install the drivers. You will have something that is similar to what is on the three screen captures I am inserting in the post. On the last screen, choose the TI Educational Handheld device and click next.

When Windows asks to stop installation, click continue anyway

After the installation, click finish.

Device manager will show you something like what is on next screen (TI Educational Handheld device)

Run TI Connect to verify that the calculator is recognized. Connect your computer to the Internet and click the Updates Button on the TI Connect tool bar.

Verify that the I/O port (the round one) does not contain any foreign material. Also, for transferring files batteries must be in excellent condition.

Even if you cannot connect it to the computer you can still transfer applications from a working calculator.

If you have a USB SilverLink cable, use it to connect the calculator though the I/O (round) port.
If you do not have a USB SilverLink cable, you can use the mini USB to USB Direct cable but you will have to install the correct driver for it.

Ti connect doesn't find it.

If you use the TI USB Silver Link cable there should not be any problem. In case of problems, download the latest TI connect software and install it anew.
But if you use the mini UsB to Standard USB Direct cable you will have to install manually the correct drivers.

Here is a copy of a post I wrote to answrer that question.

Many Problems with TI-84 Plus SE

I believe that you created your problems. You have TI connect, Use it. If you feel that you have the soul of a hacker then TILP is for you.
If you have a TI USB Silver link or a mini USB to Standard USB Direct cables you need TI Connect 1.6 not GraphLink (for Windows).

YOU MUST uninstall ALL TILP and TILP2 SOFTWARE, then install TI Connect 1.6
In what follows, I am including a copy of an earlier post of mine that may help you install the correct drivers

If you have a USB SilverLink cable, use it to connect the calculator though the I/O (round) port.
If you do not have a USB SilverLink cable, you can use the mini USB to USB Direct cable but you will have to install the correct driver for it.

TI-89 i am very frustrated... i used graph link to transfer notes to my calcaultor but it said send failed. why? its really urgent i need notes to be transferred to my calculator. thanks!

Hi,
My first answer is obvious: you can type them in the Editor.
Why did the transfer fail?
  1. File type incompatible with the OS.
  2. Not enough memory left to hold the file.
  3. Transmission error due weak batteries.
  4. Transmission error because the graph link end of the cable that goes into the IO port of the calculator is not fully inserted.
  5. Baud rate of your computer Serial port may be too high. Set it at 9600 bauds or less.
These are all the reasons I can think of. You may try to upadte the TI Connectivity software to the latest 1.6 version, if is not already 1.6

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

Can't receive programs from another calculator when linked. Already checked memory.

Hello,
Does you calculator have a communication port (USB, or serial). Hard to tell for a generic TI.

Use the link below to install TIConnect software
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/productDetail/us_ti_connect.html You can also download the latest OS there. Install TI connect on your computer and run it to open the main Window. Then connect you calculator to a USB port and, in the TIConnect main window Click the TIDeviceInfo icon. Software will try to retrieve the info. If it does your calculator is fine.

If it tells you Device Not found , Click communication settings in same pop up window where it said Not found, and Select Device, Select Cable, Select Port and Click OK..

If you are lucky and it works, you should reinstall the OS, which can be downloaded from education.ti.com. You drag and drop the OS on the TIconnect main window. Calculator must of couse be connected to computer.

If you have problem with TIconnect, use the calc-to-calc cable to transfer the OS of a working calculator. Yous should be on Receive mode [2nd][Link] --->>Receive. (When both calculators are ready hit enter.) The other calculator, you guessed exactly right, must be on Send [2nd][Link][SEND][G:SendOS]. (When both calculators hit [ENTER])

Hope it helps
